one of my best friends has a really toxic ex boyfriend. They broke up two years ago, then sort of were on and off, then broke up "for real" last year. I spent most of the first half of 2019 assuring her that it was the right decision. He was super controlling and very jealous. He enabled her bad behaviour, smoking and drinking excessively, because he was scared she would leave if he didn't. While being annoyed with him, part of her enjoyed his fixation because she craves attention. I was glad it was over and she could work on herself. Then they spent more time together again. It got worse. He hit her once. She cut him off. This time for good, I hoped. In autumn, I had finally convinced her to block him on social media. She started dating again. I thought that was the end of it.
I watched her instagram story today. Her ex picked her up at the airport and she even tagged him with a heart emoji. I feel sick to my stomach. She deserves better. I've told her over and over that she needs to get out of this relationship, I begged her. My words don't seem to reach her. I feel obliged to still be her friend, but I honestly don't know if I can handle it any longer.

Honestly, I think she's completely lost it at this point. How can you fuck up a response to an FAN so bad?
Any other content creator who cares a little about their image could come up with at least two different polite ways to address this issue and yet she manages to put something like this out there. She's trying too hard to make everyone believe she adored Japan that it just comes off as a parody to me at this point. But then again, if you intend to lie to your audience Kenna, why not use your fake diagnosis as an excuse here? "hey i've been diagnosed with autism recently, so my attitude or humour might have made it seem like i didn't enjoy japan. but i truly did! i'm still figuring things out so thanks for being patient with me" would've been a lie as well, but at least it would've not made you look like a dick. She's just not smart enough to work with her own narrative.
I think it would be better if she took some time off from social media, because at this point she just seems way too vulnerable to be able to do her job properly.

I feel you! I recently moved back to my parent's house in another city because I graduated and wanted to look for a job in another city anyways. I initially planned to go back to the city where I went to university to celebrate New Year's Eve with my friends. But that one friend that usually makes plans for everyone won't be joining us this year, since she will be staying with her family. And so it happened that none of us really planned anything. I'm too awkward to ask if I can join in somewhere.
But to be honest - it's not that bad. I spent last year's New Year's Eve alone and it was so chill and relaxing. No overthinking that the party you went to isn't cool enough. No worrying about the expensive cab that's going to take you home. No anxiety in overcrowded clubs. No panicking when the one friend you know and who brought you along is talking to others and you're on your own.
Just you, some nice food (I treated myself some fancy takeout last year), maybe a hot bathtub and a glass of wine. Also, when I casually told everyone that I spent New Year's Eve alone because all this "I want to have the best night on NYE" was stressing me out - so many people agreed with me. I even heard "I want to do this next year as well" a few times. So, it's nothing shameful to be alone on NYE as long as you aren't ashamed of it.

I actually think the haircut looks okay now. When she initially cut it I thought it looked bad because her hair was so thin. But her hair seems to have gotten thicker by now, which makes the haircut look way better. Personally I think she'd look better with shoulder length hair, but it's definitely an improvement from her initial chop.

What if he actually manages to blame it all on insanity and then they put him in a mental ward? Would be hilarious.

Evil Sex nun. Good Christian my ass. Just admit that Christianity is just an excuse for you to not like homosexuals, who you in reality don't like because gay men are not interested in you and women you hate anyways.

Not disagreeing with you but I think we shouldn't use reading the books as a gatekeeper to the Harry Potter fandom. You can be a fan of something and be super excited about it without having consumed every piece of media available. Of course, as you have stated, there are definitely indicators in Kenna's behavior that suggest she doesn't care about Harry Potter except for the aesthetic but I would leave the book vs. film argument out of it.

Doesn't the bible also state that having sex before marriage is a great sin and that a woman who is not a virgin before marriage should be killed or tortured?

I want to upvote this more than once. This is so true for not only Kenna but also Kanadajin and basically every other foreigner moving to Japan and then being disappointed because people and fame don't automatically flock to them just for their foreign looks.

Don't wanna talk too much about it since there have been very good comments on this already - but this whole "european fashion" thing just won't let me go. There is no thing such as "european" fashion, because Europe is very diverse. "American fashion" doesn't exist either. I just can't wrap my head around getting "european" clothes for a trip to Europe because everyone just dresses like the rest of the world. There's no big difference in fashion between Germany and Japan for example, if you ignore Harajuku or the two weeks of Oktoberfest in Bavaria (in big cities you'll even find people wearing Lolita-style dresses, so that's not Japan exclusive either).
I mean, no offense, it's all cool to get excited about a trip to another country and if you are into fashion, that's totally fine. But with Kenna and that other girl it just looks like they've got no idea at all - just like Kenna dreamed of Japan as that magical land and found out it's a lot like the US after all. Spoiler, Europe will be just the same.

She said in the video that the quest was to not get a cool looking outfit but rather an outfit with as many as fake big logo pieces as possible, which I thought was boring af. I mean, anyone can do that, it's not a challenge at all. Why not try to get a nice looking outfit? Most people think fake designer things are trash, so it would be really interesting if they can actually look good. It just seems like she took the easiest route possible (combined with not trying to bargain) which isn't a good look when she also isn't uploading on a regular basis anymore.

I think they look really good together, however I thought Mei was quite annoying in that video. Maybe it's because she is used to being in front of the camera alone and she is has high standards when it comes to aesthetic things but she kept telling him what to do (don't look here, don't look there) because she probably feared it would look awkward on camera.
