That's honestly why I was a little worried about the sudden splurge of money. Venus has been the bread winner, but Margo seemed to be the one controlling the expenses. I doubt Venus knows anything about insurance payments, budgeting and taxes. She really didn't have a good role model to begin with. Meh, lets hope for the best. She might take Margo as an example of what not to do...
About the car issue. I live in a different city with a similar layout to Tokyo and commute to work everyday from the outskirts to the city centre. The commute takes around an hour and a half by car yet only 35 minutes by bus+train and cost about the same due to gas and parking expenses so I barely touch the steering wheel other than an odd instance or two. Owning a car really isn't a priority so I'd assume the couple could skip it, but what strikes me is Margo mentioning the car having a custom license plate of Venus's birthday. That makes me believe that Margo, for once, was telling the truth. It's the whole ''shepherd calls wolf'' thing. No one can believe her even if she's honest once in a blue moon.
I have no idea who brings in what, whose salary they're relying on or if their expenses are shared or not. But if I took a wild guess, I'd say Manaki's taken out a loan; based on the new car, new apartment and furnitures. Unless he had savings or obtained a large sum of money in another way. IE; parents, inheritance etc. Loans are extremely common in Japan, but many people tend to take a bigger bite than they can swallow and end up choking on it until they hit retirement age. I honestly hope that's not the case here. Assuming they're living in Tokyo, rent is astronomical even in the surrounding rural areas, compared to other cities. There's also an additional parking space rent that costs nearly as much as renting a house if the area you live in is close to the city centre. One can't certainly know, but the photos she's posting show quite a nice, new and big apartment. Definitely not an affordable and moldy 1DK room. So I'm assuming that it costs quite a chunk of galleons. Seeing that they're both young, I sincerely hope that they, namely Manaki, thought it through. I'd hate to see them crash and burn just because he somehow overestimated himself and Venus regarding monetary affairs.
I don't condone any kind of abuse but I've noticed that it really is considered normal to rough handle children in Eastern and Eastern European societies. It's gotten tamer nowadays with more and more people frowning upon it, but it was accepted as the norm until quite recently. I'm not talking about a full on beating, but a light slap on the head when the child says something vulgar or a projectile slipper missile when the kid breaks a vase is still considered quite comical as opposed to abusive in some places I've lived in. But a slipper missile is inherently different than straight out forceful slapping/punching abuse. Even if Margo was raised to believe that slight abuse was acceptable in her Hungarian home, it still doesn't justify why she performed it on Venus and performed it at such a degree. In my books, nothing can justify beating your own child until they scream for help.
It seems like the common room/kitchen of a run down hostel or a dorm. That might be why they're speaking in a foreign language (Hungarian? Russian? It sort of sounds Baltic.) even though it's supposed to be in Japan. Other tenants seem like university aged kids.
@Kyo I do get your point but I doubt Venus had the intention to insuniate that having a mental illness or autism was a defect. She was just relaying that she was ''normal'' as in that she didn't have any distinguishable physical or mental differences compared to the norm, the majority of the population. I get that there's discrimination, but I also think that tiptoeing around words in order to be politically correct is as damaging as the opposite. Beign autistic means that you are different than the norm, you explained it very eloquently. It's definitely not a bad thing, but objectively, it's not normal. Just like how missing a limb, being an albino, having three boobs etc are perfectly fine and no sane person would discriminate against in any way, but they wouldn't be classified as normal. Not being normal isn't a bad thing. It's not deragotary. It's just stating what the situation is. It's the same as ethnicity talk. Nowadays everone's playing chess with their words in order to not offend anyone which in turn maximizes vulnerability. Calling a black person ''black'' or a white person ''white'' are not deragotary unless you make them out to be. Having a different physical/chemical setup in your brain is not what one should call normal, it's different. But being normal is neither good nor bad. It's not the ultimate state of being or anything, so don't let it offend you.
I'm in the bloody subway and have no earphones! I'm sure I'll be assaulted by a Japanese granny with an umbrella if I cave in and have a quick look at the video!! Someone! Anyone! Write down the subject of the video, a short recap pretty PLEASE!!!|ﾟДﾟ)))|ﾟДﾟ)))|ﾟДﾟ)))
To those of you who think this is fake: Guys, I get where you're coming from. This situation seems so surreal that it's hard to believe it's true, right? Margo's behaviour is so extreme that it all seems staged, doesn't it? I'd like to point out a couple of things... Margo has problems. Serious problems. She's always had them, but she seems to be having a psychotic breakdown right now which has escalated their severity tremendously. It's not normal, but it wasn't unexpected either. She's a psychopath. Plain and simple. "Psychopath'' isn't a deragotary term or anything, it's a common illness, just like cancer and it can't be helped. Margo ticks all the boxes and although I'm not fond of playing doctor from behind my keyboard... If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's safe to assume that it's a bloody duck. She's manipulative, narcissistic, lacks empathy, displays grandiose thinking, is a pathological liar, behaves boldly, is amoral, displays delusional thinking where she's always right etc. While her behavior is unbelievable for a normal person, it's extremely understandable for someone mentally ill, living through a psychotic episode. Anyone who has ever dealt with someone with a mental illness for a period of time can immediately tell that Margo was abusive, had a problem and it's recently gone out of control triggered by her daughter/captive escaping.
Another thing I'd like to point out is that this mother and daughter aren't exactly the brightest of bulbs... They're not that skilled when it comes to deceiving people. This has been proven time and time again. Marriage cancelled lie, Mr Yan drama, fundraiser deceit and many others... They've always f*cked their lies up. Every single one of them. They tend to make false claims without research and leave gaping holes in their stories, constantly changing the narration of events. This time it's different. It's not their style. Updates and how the events are unfolding are too unpredictable to be planned. Also, the accusations against Venus are far too severe to be just a publicity stunt. Margo's gone as far as claiming that her daughter willingly killed and maimed her pets, is physically violent, has a mental illness, is a thief, cheater, liar and so on. She has also called her own daughter a mistake on her birthday and revealed that she believes that she claims rights over Venus and her money beause she gave birth to her. This is no publicity stunt. This is real abuse and I'm honestly worried for the safety of Venus. Venus probably knows how Margo can behave when facing situations like this. I bet that's why she ran from their encounter, that's why she's not disclosing where she's staying at and minimalising contact. I'm also sure that Venus has either done her research on how to deal with someone like Margo or she's received advice from a somewhat professional. Her handling of the situation is too good to be instinctual.
Really? But was the country Japan? I've constantly been warned by both the Japanese embassy and airline companies that I had to buy a round trip before I got my visa. The airline informed me that they had the right to refuse me boarding. It's not that it's illegal. It's just that Japanese customs can be strict and the airline has to return you to your starting destination if you're refused entry. They don't want to take the risk in case they have to fly you back for free. No return ticket is a high risk situation so they just refuse you boarding from the start. But I've just been warned about it and complied. So I'm not sure if there are exceptions. I'll take your word for it.
Ok, so Margo definitely had to buy a round trip airline ticket when entering Japan. Unless she has anything other than a tourist visa, airline companies can refuse boarding if all she has is a one way ticket. I wonder what date her return ticked is supposed to be at. Perhaps she dished out some money and bought a flexible ticket? In any case, she's due to return to Korea in 3 months before her tourist visa expires. Wonder what her initial plan was... To mooch off Venus and Manaki for another 3 months? To stay in Japan for a week or so and return to Korea?
Bloody hell. Harassment and cyber bullying are as bad as they are. But receiving it from one's own mother? Blimey. I can't wrap my head around it. Margo's acting like a scorned hag in the best of terms. If I were Venus, I'd go to the authorities and learn about the procedure one has to follow in order to get a restraining order in Japan. Not start the process, but get everything ready in case push comes to shove.
Additionally, I'm baffled by the fact that they were literally begging for money just a month or two ago, feeding a sob story about having to sleep in a single bed and what not. Now what? Margo's shamelessly bragging about paying a load of cash for the language school and has suddenly gained the financial ability to buy a round trip plane ticket at the drop of a hat. Absolutely mind boggling. As far as mothers go, Margo's a poor excuse.
Of course Margo's going over to Japan to interfere, mess with her head and possibly harass Manaki and Venus for 3 months 'til her tourist visa runs out. Does anyone believe for a second that she wouldn't? Seriously? She could just airmail Venus the stuff, but no. She's purchasing a round trip ticket to Japan and back just to hand over 5-6 pieces of clothing. I dare you to find the logic here. Blimey. She's like Jack Nicholson from the Psycho. I bet she'll go through customs wielding and axe and hissing ''Here's Johnny!''.
Yeah, I constantly buy these crisps. There are two dates on the top right corner. One is the best consumed by date ｢消費期限｣ and the other is the manufacture date ｢製造日｣. The one in the picture is the manufacture date. A little old comparatively, beause they restock quite frequently in Japan so manufacture dates are at most a week old in most big stores. But pretty plausible if she purchased it in Korea at a store with slow customer traffic. Long story shory, it's not expired.
I wonder if Mira's aware of the fact that those ''Japanese ancestors'' of hers would have ended their lives due to shame if they were outed like Mira was... With the whole cultural concept of dishonor and all... Guess we'll never know. After all, Mira's pretty much the only authority when it comes to Japanese customs.
Agree totally. I bought in to the ''starvation mode'' bullshit back then when I was consuming the same amount of calories but stopped losing weight. After some research I've realized that it's just that now I'm slimmer, my daily need for calories dropped accordingly. So a 1200~ kcal diet doesn't create that much of a deficit for visible weight loss. I'll edit the original post accordingly when I have time. Thanks for pointing it out! ヽ(´▽｀)/
