Mira - English Dictionary

Yeah, to add to the French in Canada topic- I can't speak for all of Canada, but in Ontario specifically we are required to take french classes from grade 4 until grade 9. The amount of french we learn is pretty basic unless you are in a french immersion school or program, but by the time you graduate unless you went out of your way to continue learning... you don't retain much. The kids who did well are usually the ones with a comprehensive knowledge of English grammar and linguistic determinism.

Being... I doubt she retained much.

its the same out in BC but until grade 11. I can understand written french if i take the time and basic oral but i can't write phrases for the life of me. Even French immersion kids lose it if they dont use it sadly.

I mean, you could always go out to Quebec but even when I've been there I found 95% of people spoke fluent English.

I don't understand how Mira's English could be so bad though, I went to many many schools around the province and the fact that English is the ONE CLASS you have to take your entire time in school I feel like MOST people have a basic grasp... or at least the ability to learn from their mistakes if called out for it.

;; tbh some of the mistakes she makes make ME embarrassed to be from the same region as her, because I've seen comments from people implying that Canadians or Ontarians are prone to such stupid habits.

EDIT: WHOOPS FORGOT TO QUOTE YOU. Sorry I'm new to posting and not just reading on here. ; n ;

Yeah, her English really is something else. I have cousins to came to the US from Mexico when they were both already in high school and honestly their spelling is WAY better than hers. (and despite living in the US for at least 4 years now, their Spanish is still perfect. You'd think they'd forgotten it by now :haiplz:)

It's such bullshit about forgetting English because.. First of all, native language and speaking it her WHOLE life before Japan! And second of all, she literally speaks English in almost every single one of her videos.

Miranda started this "I am forgetting English" garbage when she hadn't even been in the country for a full 13 months yet. On January 2nd of 2013 she posted her first video claiming this (She arrived in Japan in November of 2011, barely a year earlier).. She needs to stop lying, it's just insulting everyone's intelligence.

Her most recent blog entry gave us another gem:

I have been seeing the crazy news articles, YouTube videos being covered about these crazy feminists with crazy views. And the increase in YouTubers having their whole channel dedicated to feminism, and to combat that, the anti-feminist videos and anti-feminist channels and the "this is getting out of hand" videos from nutural people.

Neutral, Miranda, it's neutral.

She's also written sponcor instead of sponsor on gaijinpot.

I'm not gonna make fun of her cause she could have dyslexia or similar, but her awful spelling does make it easier to see through her vast sock puppet accounts.

Sorry double quote. Not trying to be rude to anyone who has dyslexia here, but doesn't dyslexia just get letters or numbers switched and jumbled? Hers is just completely wrong spelling entirely.

She has even admitted to spelling things wrong in purpose and just not caring. I doubt she is dyslexic.

I have never considered myself dyslexic but I make those jumbled mistakes all the time LOL for some reason if I really concentrate on spelling I always confuse Z and V despite not looking the same but sounding the same. I switch up the whole Z zee/zed and V vee and my head goes into a melt down...

but she.. she just spells as it sounds, if that makes sense?? She does these spelling mistakes my ex used to do and he was downright stupid, like booger eating stupid (dear god why did I date him)

She has even admitted to spelling things wrong in purpose and just not caring. I doubt she is dyslexic.

People have corrected her in the past and she just doesn't care at all, and even on your phone, since she has an iphone it will autocorrect - unless she has it turned off.. ugh.

Since I'm from a German-speaking country, I'd like to explain that.

In German language, a distinction is made between dyslexia ("Dyslexie", reading disorder) and "Legastehnie" (reading and writing disability). It's a mystery to me why this distinction isn't made in English because they are two separate things in both German literature and medicine.

Honestly, she sounds like those typical learners that make a joke of their inability to use English in favor for Japanese.

{Ex: "Oh noes. I forgot how to say fish in my own language! I must be becoming another race/ethnicity. Tee hee."}

So tacky.
