Yeah, the design is definitely cute and original (chubby!!) and it could work, but the artstyle doesn't.... gel together? If you are drawing that cartoony and small, you shouldn't shove too many details in the face. And with that much detail on the nostril, it looks like the nose is too upturned.

I know some of you compared it to SJW drawings and I don't disagree, but I also see the ugly "adult animation" style in it.

Not to be a party pooper, but Lovesick is just as much of an unfinished project as YanSim is at the moment. I see everyone getting hyped up and it just reminds me of the hype for past YanSim clones, you know, the ones who crashed? The past games also clogged up the thread... For no payoff in the end. I agree with washi_tape, let's move this discussion to another thread.

If the artist is friends with the devs it just seems weird that they would choose them to do the art. I mean you would know if your friend's art was shit, right? I mean bad art can be suicide for a game.

It depends on the skills of the gamedevs. Touhou for example never had professional art but still got a huge fanbase during the time it was the most popular because the games were seriously unique and good. However, DrApeis isn't Zun and the game is just Yansim 2.0 with all of it's flaws, it's nothing revolutionary. I don't think the artist will cause the death of Loveletter, but it will hurt the popularity.

I don't know how the news went about because I'm not in the server, but there should have been a clear ref with notes about the body to prevent these kinds of issues from happening. For example, Asui Tsuyu from BNHA has an official ref sheet where the creator says that Asui purposely has large hands/legs/eyes so that when people draw her, there can be some consistency. Is everyone going to adhere to those notes? Of course not, but it's good practice to include that information anyway to clear up any questions about the character's design. It gets the message across far more productively than repeating "it's my style." My take is that the team should get an official artist who has the style, experience and professionalism to better represent the game's intentions moving forward.

Ignoring official constructions from a character sheet and changing the design 'because it's my style' just comes off unprofessional. It would be fine if the artist made her chubby for her own fanarts but making her chubby for the official artworks despite that not being intended just feels off. As said I don't have a problem with her being plus-size, in fact I think that makes her a bit cuter.

But it bugs me a lot that the artist said Bow-chan is not supposed to be plus-size yet draws her that way because of her style. If she had just said 'Yeah, she is gonna be chubby in the game' I would see no problem here but the fact that she pointed out that won't be the case ('she is not chubby, that's just my style!' and 'I decided to make her chubby') gives off even stronger SJW/tumblr artstyle vibes since this means we will have to expect her to change all other designs on a whim as well.

Osana's official announcement is set for the 1st of august. Alex hinted it in his latest blog post and on his discord server. There will probably be a new build including her but it's unclear if that will be the demo. Probably not. I'd be surprised if all graphics had been replaced and there also aren't new 3d models yet. Alex seems to just release Osana to save his game since he's facing all the backlash now.

Keeping my fingers crossed for that august 1st build and if Osana is just thrown into it. It seems to be Alex' desperate try on fixing the current mess since he can't really do much aside from releasing Osana to have people keep interest in yansim.

My bet is that on august 1st we'll get a new blog post starting with: 'Today should have been the day Osana was supposed to be released.' He'll probably just drop Hate and shame 2 instead.

Finally Yandy will have an important part of the game in his game bulid again after he removed the only rivial in the game,Oka.

I'm never going to get over Yandy getting rid of Oka-y because it wouldn't be that hard for Yandy to work on her and Osana at the same time. And it's not like there was even a reason to remove her. She stood in the club room basically and that's it.

it literally blows my mind every single time seeing how self-entitled one person can be. he not only wants to have god tier HD++ professional quality work that takes hours to do, but he wants it for free. all for his shitty sandbox, with the most unoriginal characters ever, that is not even the actual game itself.
