Hi all, I paid the server bill for the month so the site can be archived, sorry for the mess, didn't realize there'd be such an uproar. The site's in read-only mode. Happy archiving. Here's a link to a user-made PULL discord server: https://discord.gg/vZFEm75

She replied to someone who said that they felt she didn’t like Japan. Love how the hundreds of posts of appreciating japan were just getting compliments and going to Starbucks. Also new on her story

Correct me if I’m wrong, but hasn’t Kenna explicitly said before that she was lucky that she never struggled with mental health issues? Or something to that effect? I can’t find the comment but it’d be nice if someone could (and catch her in another lie lol)

I don't believe her one bit that Japan was everything she wished for, she clearly was disappointed in her year abroad.

Plus, in that comment on that other instagrammers post about Frozen she called another user out for taking something she said literally and I can't even with the hypocrisy :alpacasad:

what do you mean? publishing via an agent/publisher is free. when you do need to pay is when you self-publish like she’s aiming to do. she *could* do with a freelance typesetter and a freelance designer since she wants her book to be quite graphic but that’s a different story and since they’re freelance they don’t get to give the author a deadline (but dare i say it’d be nightmare to work for kenna lol). tbf she could do with a freelance editor too to edit her poems but she probably wouldn’t accept any kind of feedback :/

Disclaimer, I do NOT have personal experience with publishing, so anything I say can and probably will be wrong: you need an agent to get in touch with publishers in the first place, and that person gets a cut from your book paycheck (after they get you the gig, ofc) You have to jump through a million hoops to get published properly, the publisher needs to approve of your pitch first, so they'll gauge if it'll sell, if it's in an oversaturated category, if it's just bad enough to not be able to be saved through editing (assuming you even admit it needs editing) They won't hesitate to tell you that your book is unpublishable and throwing tantrums that your book is YOURS and you wrote it FOR YOU won't slide.

In short: Kenna would never cut it. Maybe if she had tried it during the 2014 Milk and Honey craze, when everyone was suddenly into free-verse autobiographical poetry, there was insane demand for it, and she was still an up-and-coming, non-problematic, fresh-faced Youtuber (someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's the year she started Youtube?) Nowadays? She's late to the game, her poetry is nothing special and wouldn't sell outside her circle of most dedicated fans, she's a procrastinator who would never meet deadlines, and she's bratty enough to never accept professional criticism on it by editors. There's no way she'd be able to do it.

I would love to hear more about this agency that was allegedly manipulating her, but I doubt we ever will since it’s fictional.

A positive story for once! My only note on it is that whiny attitudes and problematic behavior cause wrinkles so she might want to be careful :alpacabored:

On another note I hope she started to take her life/health more seriously, I think this could be a good turning point for her if she starts to work on the behaviors that push people away and hurt her lifestyle.

Some typical publishers do take work directly without an agent, but it depends on the situation. I was really into writing a few years back and did sooo much research on this, but it's been ages so I might be mis-remembering a few things.

You can go pay-to-play through vanity publishers. Trust fund babies totally do this and it's embarrassing imo. There was a girl a few years ago who got super upvoted and was "Oh my god so bleSsEd aNd ThANKful!" for her "publisher".

You can enter contests, which some big boi names will do. I can't really recall any but I feel like it's the kind of thing Penguin or Scholastic might do, at least for their smaller brands.

Some publishers take unsolicited manuscripts every once in a while, but this was pretty rare iirc from my days wishin' and hopin'.

And then some publishers will take submissions from previously-pubbed authors.

Also nepotism. This one's a bit of nepotism + vanity pubbing, but... There was this massive scandal when some cousin of Lance from NSYNC shot to the top of the NYT by basically running a weird scam where they called a ton of bookstores and falsely boosted their numbers. It was a big deal because (aside from being a financial cheat) it knocked The Hate U Give out of it's well-earned and long-held spot at #1.

I mean, with the way she abuses Photoshop, she could probably make herself look exactly like this woman when she is older. I just hope she's not still the attention whore she is now by then. Also, she'd probably steal this woman's whole ~*~ aesthetic ~*~ and then attack anyone who does even anything slightly similar to her.

Honestly, I think she's completely lost it at this point. How can you fuck up a response to an FAN so bad?

Any other content creator who cares a little about their image could come up with at least two different polite ways to address this issue and yet she manages to put something like this out there. She's trying too hard to make everyone believe she adored Japan that it just comes off as a parody to me at this point. But then again, if you intend to lie to your audience Kenna, why not use your fake diagnosis as an excuse here? "hey i've been diagnosed with autism recently, so my attitude or humour might have made it seem like i didn't enjoy japan. but i truly did! i'm still figuring things out so thanks for being patient with me" would've been a lie as well, but at least it would've not made you look like a dick. She's just not smart enough to work with her own narrative.

I think it would be better if she took some time off from social media, because at this point she just seems way too vulnerable to be able to do her job properly.
