^oh! if she ends up loosing things, ayano can frame her for stuff! lol

ot, but i kinda want to redesign his "generic" idols skskks

Btw here's Ringo Aipaddo. He's friendly, helpful and always on guard. Ringo keeps your secrets and would never steal. However, he has a short amount of patience and, also, extremely stubborn. He's failed numerous tests and is only in school due to rich parents. Forgot the stripe on his sleeve. Oops! :alpacadone:

I wish that the art wouldn't use a seifuku cause that makes me think of junior high students >.< The students wearing seifuku makes the context of the story more disturbing bc obsessing over a guy wasn't something I did in middle school (I was prepping for hs entrance exams tho). A high school uniform would b better OTL

I found a picture of Japanese school uniforms advertised in a shopping centre. I think this might give us some ideas.

Guess a dull uniform would do.

“Once a prestigious school, Akademi High lost their reputation after the series of murders in [insert the mom kill dates]. Despite the school being filled with sketchy teenagers, talented students receive extensive nurturing in order to attain those nostalgic golden days. Little do they know another storm is coming.”

That's so cool! I love the idea for the story. The way you worded it made it sound like a horror game which could be a massive improvement to YanSim. The dull uniforms also make it more horror game like as well.

omg thank uu <3

the uniforms are based loosely on the india ones, specifically the one my mom used to wear. the skirt goes fwomp when you kneel and i love it. dull colours work out so it's easier to see the shoulder markings. when ayano is gathering intel she can use them to see in what class her rival is in.

clubs such as the fashion club (where you just sew stuff) and the music club (just because), alter their uniforms slightly. it'd be cool to add the function that depending on what club you're in, you can alter your uniform to fit in better.

Hey guys. I was one of the team members when Tsum first offered to make our version of Yandere Simulator then it failed and I joined in a second one with Oualidaz which failed too. I wasn't able to read all the thread but have you guys made your version of Yansim? And if so, how far are you guys in it?

Hi, Sasaking!

Thanks for summarizing the thread in previous years. It was a massive help for newcomers like me.

Honestly, you didn't miss out on much because it appears that other Yansim games have failed or are en route to abandonment. I'm not a part of any of the teams or discords, but from what was gathered from the main thread:

  • EpicMealDev terminated production for Watashi no Mono via discord and will release his source code for others to use. He said that he was bogged down by school/life and lacked the finances and manpower to maintain WNM, but there's also been some evidence that classic Alex threatened him to shut the project down. There's been some drama about EpicMealDev's personality/lack of professionalism in running the project overall, but that drama wasn't as messy as other Yansim games. To me, WNM was one of the most promising of its kind visually (the orange/blue contrast was refreshing, the original character models were lovely and, from what I saw in now-deleted previews, the menu interface and other core game mechanics were progressing nicely). Even the OST slapped. It sucked that the project had to end, but shit happens
  • Lovesick (now rebranded as Love Letters) was an attempt at replicating Alex's game before he and Mulberry went batshit crazy over their "stolen" work (technically it was free real estate since the majority of their work was stolen lmao but I digress), which led to Alex suicide baiting/gaslighting the Lovesick team. Lovesick initially apologized before redacting their apology upon smelling Alex's bullshit. They resumed production under a new name and design, which was smart until their revisions were revealed to be subpar :*) Right now, the main gripes that people have with the team's work is the style of the new official artist and the updated logo design/name, though their collective personality isn't that great, either.

@lulubz made a great suggestion to revitalize this thread to deter from derailing the main thread, so hopefully, this comment will start off that conversation from where we left off.

In regards to Love Letter's protag art style and design, both are unflattering imo. I'm not gonna beat around the bush I think the chubby look is really unattractive especially with how her skirt is positioned w/ her proportions. I think if her proportions were to be kept then the skirt should be higher waisted and made longer to balance it out and flatter her body. Right now it just looks awkward and frumpy.

The artist talked about how it's just her unintentional style? Ok then your style is unflattering and it doesn't sound like you're willing to branch out as an artist. She kept throwing that excuse in the disc. People shat all over Kjech in the past but if you looked at his portfolio he's a great artist and could shift between doing his own amazing art and petitioned hentai art because Alex asked for it. The way Bow-chan is drawn is cartoony but has too much detail in the face and throws everything off, her mouth looks way too wide too. She just looks ugly. Points for the overly obsessive/happy expression though

Some people have been comparing inconsistencies w/ her model and her official art, but ngl Love Me did the same thing with really masculine-looking short art and tall slender models. But I'm not complaining really

But lowkey Love Me's protag wins the design contest

bow-chan looks cute in all the fan art but the official art... she's [the official artist] their friend too? it sort of reeks of nepotism.

Forgot to mention, the name change video was a dumb move on the team's part. Yes let's push the narrative that we're out to one-up Yansim even further by making our protag kill Ayano despite how we're already neck-deep in shit, because our brand new Bow-chan looks so much better than her!!

And why the pink Yansim gradient background? Why more relations to Yansim? Just stop it already

(I haven't drawn weeb shit in months and I am in no way a professional so please forgive me but I tried my hand at Bow-chan's design)

It's frustrating that they said it wasn't their intention to draw their character with that body shape because it just feels like they misrepresented the forefront character of the franchise through their art style. What a letdown. I can't tell what intentions they have for Bow-chan's design because there's no clear vision for what Bow-chan is supposed to look like in the first place, and that led to widely varying renditions of her design.

^^^ I still think a heavier protag can be drawn well with the right touches. Like you suggested, I tried to elongate her skirt and also slapped on a sweater vest. I got rid of the heart bow (because it honest to god reminded me of those little kid accessories I would get at Hmart when I was in primary school) and used a hairclip instead. Hopefully, this is passing!

Screen_Shot_2020-07-19_at_8.47.05_PM.thu

^^^ My other problem with Bow-chan's design is that it's very bland? Yansim got lucky finding success while using the most generic uniform in design and color scheme. I don't think it's a good idea to bank all of Bow-chan's design on a tacky-looking bow. It's already bad enough that Bow-chan resembles Kasumi from P5 to me (dark red, wavy ponytail tied by a bow, black/white uniform with a small ribbon, etc.) so I think that the team should find ways to differentiate Bow-chan to make her stand out more. If I were to redesign Bow-chan, this is probably what I'd go for; I got rid of the heart on the hairclip just added two plan hairclips instead, and I added some buckles to her skirt. If Love Letter wants to make a DDLC-like happy girly-sinister vibe, they ought to brighten Bow-chan's color scheme, too, so that people don't mistaken the game for being darker than it actually is.

I don't know how well either of these drawings would translate into a 3D model but honestly, I think the team is missing out on opportunities to spice up their game in more ways than one because they don't seem to be receptive of feedback anymore.
