The thing is to me it would be more interesting to watch if she said how Hong Kong went through the virus so far rather than making a Wikipedia article in a form of video, I doubt there’s much said that you haven’t heard before. At the end it’s life in HK with Coronavirus threat rather than Everything you need to know about the virus.

She could have mentioned the improvement from no closed boarders and no quarantine, medical staff protests as mainland people could come to Hong Kong and get treatment overloading HK healthcare system (little beds, no PPE equipment), people being against quarantine in residential area, to finally having 2 weeks home quarantine if you come back from China, what countries are currently blocking HK residents and people traveling out from HK (I believe at this point in East Asia HK residents can only go to Macau without any quarantine or block), how people are fighting with mask shortage and price increases (organizations who are donating to elderly and unprivileged, HKTVMALL guy flying to Taiwan to set up their own production line), how to avoid counterfeit hand sanitizers (some pharmacies were found selling hand sanitizers with methanol instead ethanol), there was a HK doctor recommending how to take care of your mask when you have to eat which she could have demonstrated, and so on and so on. Or simply just show how she lives, her precautions, where they came from etc.

The only thing she really mentioned about living in HK under this situation is masks and temperature checks, which I disagree with her statement that are everywhere - aside of government buildings and obvious airport I haven’t encountered any. No one measured me at the restaurant, and the best I got was a bag for my mask at a coffee shop.

It just wasn’t what I expected seeing ‘Life in Hong Kong Lately With The Coronavirus’. And I did actually watch the whole thing.

Knowing how much this girl copies other people, she probably just sat with a pen and paper while watching other people's content on the subject lol

Overall, I thought the video was pretty good. She stayed in her lane and said herself that she's no health expert. SARS was honestly worse bc the mortality rate was 10%.

The Akira bit was weird, only because she put up her hood for some reason? Like she's still in her flat...

Otherwise, the only other thing I kept noticing was her botox because of those weird lines on her face... :alpacadone:

From Taylor standards this video was fine. Nothing ground breaking of course.

I don't know what that outfit part had to do with the rest of the video but girl, buy your own shirts! Male shirts have a very different shape. She always looks like she's wearing a tent in Tom's shirts.

The thumbnail is a bit tasteless and leads viewers to believe she has COVID

I get where you're coming from but let's not forget that Taylor's channel has never covered those kinds of topics and everyone has agreed (for the most part) that she shouldn't talk about them...especially if we're getting into talking about political and social issues in a country she doesn't speak the language of and is relatively removed from the culture of.

I haven't watched the video but I'm legit confused what people are expecting from her? People were mad she didn't address it at all while she was in Japan and didn't talk about it/what she was doing/what was going on, and now that she made what sounds like a basic video that addressed the questions she was getting, people are crapping on her for the "wrong kind" of video??

Like make up your minds, y'all. I used to be a big fan of hers and I have not really watched her since she moved to HK, but sometimes I feel like no matter what she does it won't be satisfactory to people.

That’s why I said it’s my opinion only, as from the title I would think she would address social issues as it is the real life lately in Hong Kong, or show it as HER life in HK in the shadow of Coronavirus.

She addressed racism towards Chinese people so technically she did touch some social issues, she could put it in HK perspective like restaurants refusing service to mandarin speakers.

I don’t expect her to talk shit directly on government as I get she is on visa and she can be refused extension, but to me personally she could have taken a different approach from a sit down video of the things everyone already heard.

I don’t want to sound negative because I really appreciate the efforts, it just wasn’t what I expected giving the title. I personally would have enjoyed it more if she showed her life and how it is impacted: just like she did on empty office at Tom’s or temperature checks. She could have shown so many different aspect of living in HK that was affected by the virus without getting too political.

That kind of sit down video doesn’t match her, at least to me it feels very odd and forced, and then that dramatic music at the beginning.

Of course she won’t be able to please everyone: if she did a video I like she probably would get told off by someone else. Isn’t that exactly like in normal life? :alpacaheadshake:

edit: small off topic: what’s with this font?

Personally I didn't care if she address the issue. I'll watch asianboss or another YouTuber that will get a public opinion versus reading a dam wiki page. Like I said before if it was mentioned in a vlog that would be fine but a whole video I didn't care for it personally.

It might be also I'm just sick of every YouTuber cashing in on it.

I mean, what? She could have just addressed it like a normal person instead of deluding herself that she's like some tier of celebrity that no one ever questions. What is her channel besides "hey everybody, I'm a [former] model who only has an audience because I've lived in Asia for several years!" I'm honestly really tired from how white influencers who make their entire lives and careers about using another culture as a personality trait being completely clueless about how to talk about or handle something major going on around them and instead using it for views or to like take ig photos in masks.

This probably isn't the place to post this but omg I got recommended one of her videos! I don't even watch her/follow this thread but when I saw her name and video I was like oh hell no. Self Quarantine video it was, asked YT to no longer send me I did.

She is getting a lot of views for it and probably because of the thumbnail

I’m so tired of her pulling these exaggerated faces. You are 30? 31? Idk I lost count. This is a thumbnail I expect of a 17 yo.
