tinfoil hat theory but what if she saw PULL discussing her personal spotify so decided to name it this way as a pointed message
it looks like things are over with Ryan since i'm sure she would've posted something with him if they were still going on, especially on her birthday

her oversharing might feel compulsive and on IG stories it probably is, but like all of her Youtube videos this one was heavily clipped and edited (and probably scripted) by herself, which makes me naturally skeptical about her full intentions.
Her family trauma is valid but it just feels wrong to air it to her audience, when her parents are easily identifiable, while saying nothing about getting professional help. it's not like accidentally oversharing with acquaintances or on an IG story/live; with her videos, I feel like every sentence is said and edited precisely to produce a certain effect.
Her skirting around issues that videos have called her out for is expected

being "forced" to finish food that's still "good" but beyond the expiration date so as to not waste it isn't abusive imo? Given that her mom is Asian it's even less unusual for asian parents to not want to waste anything. her description gives an image of her mom force-feeding child-Ashley spoiled sour yogurt but for all we know it could have just been her mom encouraging her to eat barely expired yogurt to not let it go to waste.
i recall the one positive thing she said about her mom was that she encouraged ashley to have a healthy relationship with food. can't remember which video but it was one where she cooked something?
if her dad took her on business trips when she was a kid and her parents paid 100k for her "useless" degree, celebrated half-birthdays growing up (according to an article her mom wrote), took her on trips overseas, takes her to a therapist (which isn't to say they couldn't possibly have been abusive), it doesn't really add up with the new narrative she's trying to push.
it seems like she has resentment toward her parents (justified or not), and what would really benefit her is talking it out to a therapist.

she does the exact thing she claims to not want to do.
didn't she say a few videos back that she didn't want to monetize her mental health struggles? Yet thats exactly what she's been doing, and it's gotten even worse with this last video.
it's all the more disturbing when u remember SHE'S the one editing the video and deciding to put these clips in.
Mental health struggles shouldn't be bottled up or stigmatised but she's made it her brand and continues to monetize it to her audience of 3.25 million instead of reaching out to friends (or family). she should just be frank and mature about her struggles and get off social media and at least try therapy.
sidenote: it's funny how stuff ashley is associated with are weird speech patterns and hand gestures. it looks like she's tryna make plants her personality quirk, like emma chamberlain did with coffee, though from emma it was kind of entertaining at least.

lol came here to say the voice over and specifically the measuring by penis lengths is totally a rip off of micarah tewers. lol she really can't credit any of her fellow women can she.
micarah often jokes about how bad with numbers she is so she says things like "cut something the width of five hamsters" but the thing with micarah is it seems like it's an extension of her personality and it's genuine, albeit probably scripted as well.
ashley probably feels threatened by micarah cuz she's very conventionally attractive (and unfortunately not 30-40 years old so ash can't simply look up to her), does sewing/thrift flips but 100x better, and is actually quirky and has a genuine interest in fashion/costume design

lol in this case she used their phds to contrast her against her family. to demonstrate her black sheep status and how ~unique~ she is. like another user has said she could've said college professors or something but nope she didn't.
we've seen her inconsistencies when it comes to creating this incohesive narrative, like how she lives in "suburban Maryland aka the most boring place on earth where people walk goats" when she's playing the small town girl, which suddenly turns into "20 minutes from Baltimore" when she wants to push another narrative. lol just say "outside of baltimore???"
she's super whitewashed and is in denial about looking asian but suddenly "claims" her asianness when it's quirky or for POC points, says she's woke and informed (that's all on her apparently) but suddenly claims ignorance about the civil rights movement/a cursory knowledge of post-civil war american history (but that's on the public school system). acts like a woke kinky feminist who owns her sexuality, then mentions her incapability of basic communication during sex while blaming it on society/the guy for victimhood status (not saying she was lying about that, but it's horrible to be indirectly promoting kinks and casual sex to a young audience while she herself is incapable of basic communication). it's hard to be 100% consistent but if she didn't go the extra mile to create this fake narrative than no one would care and it'd be a hell of a lot easier for her to keep up her image
her portrayal of her hometown and her parents' immigrant status, and talking about working 5 jobs in HS makes her attempt at glossing over her privilege pretty obvious

she also probably gets a lot of $$$ through skincare affiliate links.
she said she tutored in college which isn't gonna amount to much, probably a few hundred bucks a week. Not that that's a small amount but it's not nearly enough to support the lifestyle she had in korea.
this is pure speculation but i'm guessing her parents paid for school/rent and her tutoring/part time job paid for other stuff and she saved her youtube money.

she's probably gonna do exactly that
PULL should stop giving her strategic advice and let her expose herself lol
Jenn's posted on her feed too and not just IG stories (although it's still performative one could say). I think the fact that people like Jenn Im and Michelle choi are doing way more than ashley right now is pretty telling, especially since neither have ever claimed to be "informed" about politics, and Michelle has a much smaller platform.
If she goes as far as to sell mediocre used clothing at their retail price and (used) PR, I bet she has an awfully hard time parting ways with her money for a donation.

people have said this before on here but despite her stellar academic record it seems like she really lacks any sort of critical thinking or self-awareness. i guess it shows that getting accepted to an Ivy doesn't always equate actual intelligence.
she always absolves herself of any responsibility and deflects it onto society at large, and says things that "expose" her past self for no good reason whatsoever other than to show people "Look at me society made me think this way but I've learned so much and come so far," like blaming her ignorance of racial issues on public schools or her misogyny on romcoms or some bs like "girls just weren't considered cool in high school" (from her how to be single video)
sidenote the message of that book she recommended called The Coddling of the American Mind seems to have been completed lost on her if she can't even stand any sort of attempt to question her responsibility or transparency in her comment section, no matter how insignificant

if she lived 20 min from Baltimore where massive protests occurred in 2015 and still had no awareness until now then I doubt she'd know about anything else like Ferguson
it's also ironic how she's claimed to be anti-PC and looks down on SJWs but deletes or blocks any mild criticism from her social media. she has 0 self-awareness or accountability
i can't believe her fans can't see through the performative bs

she blames all of her deficiencies on other people... now she's insinuating that her ignorance of racism was the fault of the public school system. a lot of american public schools definitely suck but she grew up in an affluent area. i grew up somewhere with basically no diversity in "middle america" and we definitely weren't taught that all was "fine and dandy" after the Civil War. besides, she had more than enough opportunities to "enlighten" herself in college.
it's like how she blames society for all of her internalized misogyny and jealousy of other women.

I think she's photogenic when she has control of angles/lighting.. in other people's photos and videos she often looks quite different than in her videos and her IG. I agree it's kinda irrelevant to talk about her appearance make-up aside, but no one's really "attacking" her imo
OT but EC is from the Bay Area in CA if i'm not mistaken. I think Emma's more natural at modeling and has more conventionally attractive features by western standards.

Right; I'm older than emma as well and not a huge Emma stan but I think she's been really good about being responsible for the most part and taking advantage of opportunities and not shading others in the process. she also seems to respond to fans and take criticism pretty well.
to some degree i think ashley tries to emulate emma while simultaneously feeling superior to her.

oddly as much as some dislike her online persona I think it's who she wants to become/embody--quirky girl with nerdy "obsessions" who randomly spits out sex jokes and capitalism jokes off the top of her head, among other "perfect imperfect" traits.
I think the "real" ashley is just more toned down and much more awkward (in a non-endearing/quirky way; just flat out socially awkward), with a superiority complex over other influencers (and pretty much everyone except for mediocre white men). that's probably why she spent 3 yrs and went to school in LA without making a single non-influencer/tinder hook-up friend.
someone mentioned this before but it honestly seems like when you take away all the self-deprecation and forced "quirkiness" Ashley's a pretty bland/basic person with no distinct personality.
I think in her earlier videos she was more subdued/natural but when she started receiving positive feedback and all that online validation for her "quirks," she amped it up and kinda dug herself into a hole where now that's what she's known for.
