Wow, what a monster! The original post said something that shouldn't trigger someone and Norm just flew off the handle in such an inappropriate way. He could have just said, "I'd love to visit other cities for work, but we normally are hired for Naples. I love Italy and have visited multiple cities on a few trips." or something to that effect. No need to go crazy and insult the other person and be an a*hole. It really shows how plausible it is that he's behind those sock puppet accounts and claims other posters have made about him being toxic.

But in all seriousness, based off of the context of that conversation, it was pretty clear even without explanation that the commenter meant he felt badly that it seemed like Norm didn't have a positive experience when he said he felt ashamed for him...it wasn't an insult...how did this dude teach English to speakers of another language if he can't interpret nuance based on context from a non-native English speaker?

There was the Kiera Ashley posts earlier in the thread from a Twitter Sock.

He's also got a bunch of sock puppets on Reddit. A user messaged me a while with all these usernames and they checked out. Similar Cake Days, all promoting Shamisen, his own posts etc. He seems to have deleted a few - possibly the ones whose emails he had attached or remembered passwords for, but some are still up. You don't have to believe me when I say the posts whose accounts have been cleansed were his, but I got this second-hand and saw all the posts. The messages were from well before Christmas, but 2020 really just be like that, huh.

I saw the top three reddit accounts myself on the site. When you click on the username you can see all of their comments they ever made (and didn't delete). And it absolutely checked out. It was so thinly veiled it was him it that I was almost shocked. It wasn't just the topics but also the way he wrote. There are analysing tools out there that can check a person's texts and I'll bet a coin that it would be match.

Yes, the other person's English isn't perfect but honestly very well nonetheless! I don't think Norm's Japanese is as good as that person's English. What a big hypocrite. I hope everyone eventually drops him like a hot potato ...

To be honest, Norm deliberately chose to go off on them by them for obviously not being a native speaker. If not for that, he probably would've picked something else. Their English was obviously well enough that their point came across.

And, I totally agree. Big hypocrite. But he deems himself a pro at everything he touches, so...and he's such a hard worker.

A while back I saw he liked a tweet about using youtube's "hide user" function to hide comments.

That's likely why we can't see the exchange but the user still can. The comment is still there, but it doesn't show up publicly in the comment section.
Going after someone's language ability is really low, but we already know there's no bar too low for him. Attacking someone's English ability has been a classic insult of his since Japan Rants. I pulled up a random youtube video of his and found this in less than a minute.

Even when he attacks someone he lies:
"I've been to Italy many times"

This sounds like something someone who's "been to Italy many times" would say.
