I don't know shit about LoL so please correct me if I'm misunderstanding something.

I get how it's hypocritical for her to act like she's above the girls who use their tits for twitch fame while performing as poorly as they do and streaming the same look-at-me format sans tits, but I'm not sure how it's fair to act like that means she's never allowed to take a photo of herself in a low-cut dress again. She knew what she was doing with that ramen, but I really don't understand how the rest of those selfies qualify as pandering. Leggings are not pants and I can see how posing on a bed is a little suggestive, but those all look like regular selfies to me.

I can understand the hypocrisy in her statements, but it's not pandering to dress like a normal adult woman.spacer.png

Okay for the sake of clarity:

She labels herself a "meme queen" yet one of her social medias, her Instagram, is nothing but selfies of herself. Yes OOTD aren't necessarily pandering, but we have established that it is atypical basic bitch InstaThot behavior.

What is pandering is shit like this:

Fun Fact: Scarra bought her that cosplay, which is creepy af. (Makes you wonder if he's making her do the cosplay, or if he is getting some sick fantasy off his head by her dressing up as his "waifu" eeeugh)

You really have to think about the demographic she's trying to appeal to, her actual fans, context and how she even got those views in the first place.

The majority of the people on Twitch are young boys and men, they are easily enticed and will literally throw money at a pretty girl streamer for her attention. Now think about Pokimane's outfits, behavior and "selfie" pictures. Her goal as a streamer is to get as much of a big following as possible (like all streamers) and she has full knowledge that taking those "selfie" picture will help her achieve those goals. Hence, why we consider her pictures as pandering. Furthermore, her Instagram has over 200k more followers than her Twitter and Facebook, you can see that most of her "fans" are only interested in her looks.

If you haven't thoroughly checked through her pictures and streams, I'll give you a rundown to what recently happened. During the few days after New Years Eve, she leaves a mirror in front of her webcam while wearing leggings the entire time, while acting like she didn't do that on purpose. In her VR stream (fullbody), she wears leggings and ties up her shirt to obviously emphasize her curves. As you stated, you do not believe leggings are pants, so doesn't this seem insidious to you and pandering to you? In regards to her pictures (1, 2, 3, 4), her outfit choice seems like what most girls would wear, but think about what I previously wrote.

Furthermore, she admits in a Travis interview that she funneled all the attention she received on social media (specifically Instagram, though she does not state that) into her Twitch and streaming.

By the way, is it wrong to say that her cosplays usually look like shit?

Ran out of rep for the day, but what sad weeb dreams of low quality cosplay? who tf is Lilypichu even dressed as here?

It is pretty funny how she thinks she's too good to show boobs but she'll let you look up her skirt.

Insidious? Jesus, no. You need to think harder about your word choice, because calling her habit of wearing leggings as pants 'insidious pandering' and then immediately admitting that her outfits seem like what most girls would wear is fucking ludicrous. Trashy? Sure. Harmful? No.

This is a purposeful thread. People want to talk about her behavior. But the way you are presenting this particular point feels like some incel shit, dude. She has every right to photograph herself when she thinks she looks good, and streaming on Twitch doesn't make all photos across all social media that reveal she is in fact a woman "pandering" to her twitch audience. It's not a fair connection to make and it's an awful choice of words.

By all means, use the ramen shot. Use the upskirt shot. Even leave the photos of her wearing leggings as pants, because they are fair evidence of the fact that she thinks she's too good to use her tits for views, so she uses her ass instead. Use those words, even. Maybe she thinks it doesn't count if she's not showing skin, but she knows her male counterparts don't wear body contoured clothing to show off the shape of their hips and thighs in their streams, so if she wanted to put the focus on her performance instead of her appearance, nor would she. You can explain why the leggings are problematic. You do have evidence of pandering, but not the way it's presented now. You can do a better job of putting it together.

And no, that's a fair statement. She's not exactly a professional cosplayer.

Insidious (Dictionary Definition) - intended to entrap or beguile (charm/attract someone, sometimes in a deceptive way).

What I said: her outfit choice seems like what most girls would wear, but think about what I previously wrote.

What I expected you to refer to: "The majority of the people on Twitch are young boys and men, they are easily enticed and will literally throw money at a pretty girl streamer for her attention. Now think about Pokimane's outfits, behavior and "selfie" pictures. Her goal as a streamer is to get as much of a big following as possible (like all streamers) and she has full knowledge that taking those "selfie" picture will help her achieve those goals."

How is it incel like to say : "Her goal as a streamer is to get as much of a big following as possible (like all streamers) and she has full knowledge that taking those "selfie" picture will help her achieve those goals."

I and others literally did what you said we should do (throughout this whole entire thread), we gave reasons to why leggings are problematic in this case and pictures of her in leggings, it's actually well presented. Go back and look through the comments people have made, photos I used in the first page (since those were the ones you were initially complaining about) and photos I posted in my reply to you. She shows off her "tits" or cleavage or she wears body contoured clothing in almost all of those photos, all of the shit that you've stated in your reply to me. I really don't understand why you're telling me to do the things I've already been doing especially since it seems you haven't read through the comments, nor your initial complaint.

Also why are you going against your previous statements or presenting us information that makes your previous points null?

You previously state "I can understand the hypocrisy in her statements, but it's not pandering to dress like a normal adult woman.spacer.png" when referring to the pictures I used on the first page, but here you are saying that those clothes that she wore in the pictures (page 1) initially used are considered as pandering since she is either wearing body contouring clothing or showing off cleavage.

Derailment.

Which dictionary did you use? I used google.

The word has a connotation of malice. There are more appropriate words to use if you don't intend to signify an attempt to cause harm. Do you need to see a definition of the word pandering, too?

The part that sounds like incel nonsense is the conflation of photos of a normally dressed woman with images posted for the purpose of entrapping men. I stand by my statement that wearing leggings as pants is pretty normal for young women, but because you failed to explain how your "evidence of pandering" was problematic I didn't see how her legging habit was inappropriate until my second post. Don't accuse me of contradicting myself for coming to a mutual understanding with you, because that's what I've been trying to do all along. I have every right to change my mind when presented with new information and I'd recommend you do the same.

You cannot convince me that she's never allowed to post photos of herself that show cleavage just because she won't use cleavage to get views while streaming. You can call it hypocritical, but it's not fucking pandering for a grown woman to have tits she doesn't hide 24/7; I have consistently disagreed with you on that. If you're going to say "but all of her insta is tits" then use a screencap of her gallery showing that; it's a lot stronger than posting individual images.

I criticized a weak section of the original post and asked you to correct it using evidence provided by the rest of the thread, something you have already done in other sections, so I really don't understand why you're arguing with me when I'm trying to help you make the best of your thread. When someone tells you "this is not well presented" and offers specific recommendations for how to make it better, insisting "yes it is well presented but you need to read the whole thread if you want to understand what I put in the first post" is a belligerent waste of everyone's time. You didn't even argue with my specific recommendations, you're just accusing me of being inconsistent. There's no reason for you to be so defensive about this. Why won't you just let me help you? :alpacaworry2:

Sage update:

I never derailed your thread by questioning what of Pokimane's behavior qualifies as pandering and I will not spoiler my posts on a relevant topic of discussion just because you decided to stop fighting me on it. If you want to write a response you say is off the topic of your own thread you have every right to waste your time writing it, but I won't waste my time reading something you expect me not to respond to anyway. Unless a mod decides our discussion was irrelevant to the topic after all, my original statements will stand in their integrity.

And don't mind the image, it inserts itself every time I edit something. I'll remove it momentarily.

Edit: I wrote and posted this before the derailment comment. This argument would go nowhere considering how we both are, it would just be repeated comments with condescension.

Edit Edit: Patched things up in PM, thank you Figuratively Satan.

Derailment

We should stop derailing the thread, I appreciate it if you used the spoiler tool on all your arguments and (if you do) reply to this, also add ‘derailment’ as well. I will do the same to mine. It's not fair for the people who come here, expecting to only read about Pokimane, but are greeted with this.

If you're up to date with Pokimane's stream or social media, then post a comment on it.

I'm not sure how their cast work; but based on their wording, is she going to be a permanent member of their YouTuber React?

OT: Some tweet from a while ago, she said that being a professional streamer is technically an equivalent to professional gamer lmaooo. Like no you just pander to your thristy fanboys

I wonder why Pokimane would let a person record the reflection of her entire backside , especially when she hates the THICC spam. At this point, I feel like people of the house know what she's doing and encourage her to keep this up (for more views).

She's about to gain so many fans (and maybe haters). Despite her problematic hypocrisy, I'm glad for her. She's doing well in this industry as a girl, and she's making clever decisions which shows prowess in business and marketing. In some regards, she's a good role model. She seems more ambitious than the other streamers, but I do feel like her looking white really helps her and provides her with more opportunities. Don't wanna knock on her achievements and her heritage though - her looking white isn't her fault, just hope she knows her perceived whiteness helps her. That being said, I know nothing about Moroccans. :alpacaworry:

To chip in my two cents on the "are streamers professional gamers" topic, I think that to be labeled a professional gamer you have to play for a pro team (TL, TSM, etc.). But people like poki who stream only and don't play for a pro team should be labelled as professional streamers. I think it's important to make that distinction because pro gamers, while most of them are also streamers, have a much higher skill level than just any average streamer.

Poki wants to be called a professional gamer because she says that "she makes money from gaming and therefore that makes it her profession". But it's not really the gaming that makes her money, it's the fact that she streams it that makes her money, and that's why she is a "professional streamer", where'as a pro gamer makes money from playing professionally on a pro team and that makes them a "professional gamer".

I think she wants to distance herself from Twitch as much as possible. She doesn’t want the negative cam girl connotation that comes with being a “pro streamer”.

Honestly though I don’t think much will change as the sole reason she is popular is purely based on her looks.

shes not like other popular female YouTubers who make entertaining content. She is in fact very cringey to watch. That coupled with the fact her personality varies greatly depending on which form of media you are viewing her, which makes her come off as really fake.
