Because those betterhelp money, he can't help it :haiplz:

In any case, I doubt anyone would go to betterhelp for actual help regarding mental illnesses Their way of promoting their services appears to shady and doesn't incur trust from consumers. If anything, people might go to them for relationship or marriage issues, not so much for mental illnesses that have negative stigmas that weigh more irl than marriage and relationship issues.

not sure about this one but they look like they're breaking a few ethical codes too?

i don't think they break any ethical code legally because they gave service connecting consumer to therapist. and they clearly stated in their term of service they aren't responsible if said therapist have license or not (which has been deleted). Though they could be sued for fake advertising.

Most bad review they had from consumer are from ppl that got bad therapist or already paid but aren't getting any session. And some get charged unknowingly before they end their free subscription.

i believe shane still get money from making video sponsored by them with kati morton because kati collab vid mostly from featuring in other ytbers video promoting betterhelp.

just my conspiracy but i believe betterhelp set them up, and shane wants to milk the vids and set that's why he spin it toward mental health issues.

You say that,  but this was on my tumblr dashboard just yesterday.

EDIT: also this particular service is lowkey marketed towards/ preying on the socially anxious mentally ill people. So yeah, actually mentally ill people are using it.

haven't used tumblr in ages so I have no idea what's going on over there but well, I'd be damned. I guess at least there are people that realise it for what it is and brought it up but then again, it's a bit concerning to know that some mentally ill people are using betterhelp.

So I was watching Andrei Terbea's video on all of this, which is mostly on the positive side of the things:

Obviously I would see Shane's reply underneath lol (mostly regarding the part at around 4:00, that's he's so stressed and all)

I guess I'm ok with the fact that he at least acknowledged some positivity?

But still, the amount of backlash I think was mostly regarding him armchair diagnose somebody he didn't know before and basically just turn a mental illness into a reality tv show like thing just for cash grab, else he would consult with an actual specialist and not just use Kati as a scapegoat.

I love Shane, but this series has been a total bore.:alpacaworry:Anyone have any people/topics Shane should do next? The whole betterhelp scandal has been intresting to watch unfold, defranko mentioned making a video about them to shed light on their practices. Can't wait til the series is over so we can move on to someone/thing more entertaining

this series would be so much better without Kati...like yes, Shane definitely needs a third person to give him advice and look at everything rationally but Kati isn't the right person, she's as overdramatic as Shane, but she's even worse because she's supposed to be the specialist...

That therapist is soooo bad. She herself said she works with eating disorders and self harm and not with this kind of personality disorder.

Seriously though.. no point of the therapist being there. Otherwise, it was alright. I'm still waiting to hear about what Alissa has to say and how Shane will confront Jake about all the other bullshit.

Phil made a video about BetterHelp

I'm glad he touched on the "proof" they were using that everybody is on this such as the way the affiliate links were formatted (Boogie's link mentioned Phil's company) and how some of the bad reviews were ill informed (particularly the ones that gave BH a bad review based on BH turning them down and telling them to seek crisis help). I still do believe BH is dodgy AF and feel bad for those who got a shitty experience from them, but some of the accusations or proof used against these youtubers were so dumb

So, at around the 4:46 timestamp, Kati brings out a book that Pewdiepie showed in his video abou the series, which is the only source he could find on Kati's claim that 1 in 25 people are sociopaths, and it's on the front cover. I chuckled when I saw it. Seriously Shane, if you really wanted a therapist, maybe get one that actually specializes in Sociopaths and Anti-Social Disorder, and not self harm and eating disorders.
