Overpriced Brands

surprised no one has mentioned this site, but KYC Vintage. i caught them during a sale and their shirts were really cheap (like $2, $3 a pop) but shipping was like $20??? and my order was within the US . . . anyway it took so long for my shirts to come in that i forgot what i had even ordered. i expected gildan quality for such cheap prices, but a part of me expected it to be higher quality based on the wait and the shipping price.

but i will give them credit and say i've worn all of the shirts several times and the designs aren't fading as quickly as i thought they would, if at all (fingers crossed).

i looked there before and tried ordering but $28 USD shipping to canada .... yeah no thanks :alpacadone: a total rip-off

Ooh boy, it's hard to do skincare because a lot of people believe expensive = more effective and better quality. I'm not cheap with my skincare but who am I kidding? Here I am using supermarket sunscreen.

Drunk Elephant: I've tried their deluxe sample sets and I think the only thing worth the coin is C Firma (AU$116 for 30mL). It's not to say that the others are not effective, but it's overpriced. You could definitely find AHA and BHA from less expensive brands. Same goes for Hyaluronic Acid. DE markets their Marula oil claiming their extraction method retain more of its nutrients but at the end of the day, it's skin. I don't get my nutrients from my skincare. It just needs to moisturise.

You could argue that the Vit C is also overpriced but most L-ascorbic acid ones are expensive, and I find the packaging of DE helps preserve it. I can only compare the trial size of Paula's Choice C15 Booster (runs at AU$62 for 20mL and most people don't go through the entire bottle before they have to replace it) with the deluxe of C Firma, and the booster started oxidation by the second week because it wasn't clear colourless anymore while the DE, for the 2-3 weeks I used the deluxe, remained clear  colourless. Edit: It was still clear, as in transparent but there was a slight colour change i.e. like the browning of an apple.

Chantecaille: Wtf? The Nano Gold Energising Eye Cream is AU$389 a pot. I got a sachet sample from a purchase, and tbh, that sample had enough product to last me a week or two because you use it so sparingly. I put it into a sample pot and use a spatula to control how much I put on.

Urban Outfitters is comparable to Forever21 in terms of quality. It really is disgusting how much they charge. Agreed on Victoria's Secret, bras seem especially low-quality for the price. That scratchy lace will be the death of me. The most scandalous (IMHO) is UNIF. I'm not sure if they are going for "Thift-shop" chic but they are literally selling expensive 90s wear lately. No offense on 90s style but I could respect UNIF a bit more then it was $350+ for that cool vapor motorcycle jacket. At least they were selling unique pieces and not trying to be an edgier Brandy Melville.

Tom Ford Makeup is sooooo expensive.

I'm dying to try this Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate cream contour and highlighter duo but it's $82. :S

Any brand beyond Wal-Mart or those cheap trendy knockoff stores, but to me even like supporting Wal-Mart corporation just feels so wrong, because I worked there and there's a lot of bullshit and cutting corners just to make an extra dollar, I felt extremely overworked and then I realised that's how it runs all the way to the top and now any time I go in there and see how tired and sad my old managers look, I only feel pity for them. Ever since I quit I can't rightly go there and just have a good time like I used to, the grey drab walls and white floors and lights make me depressed too. Lol but yeah I just shop at exclusively thrift stores and yard sales now, I mean I still buy sorta name brand like vans and crooks and castles (I'm from the hood), but I can find that shit for like a dollar lmao. And I only buy drugstore makeup because I am skilled enough anyway. I know I'm bragging but I end up wasting all my money on weed and food anyway sooo yeah lol

Fashion nova

The material they use for dresses is just too thin, you could get something of the same quality from sites like Wish or Romwe

If we're still talking about skincare then Proactive. My acne wasn't even severe, honestly, you couldn't even call it mild. It was like two pimples that popped up right before my period. My mom bought it for me when I was younger and it was so bleh. I mean, it did it's job but I don't see why someone needs to pay $100 every three months for it.

Definitely UNIF. I find a lot of their stuff really cute, but you really can find half of the stuff they sell at thrift shops. I also feel like some of the clothes Urban Outfitters sells can be really over priced. I bought a pair of BDG Jeans from them awhile ago for $70 (it was an impulse buy and near the time of my bday, I kinda regret the purchase now) and the quality is lowkey shit, especially when you compare it to the quality of a pair of Levi's Jeans which can go for around the same price or higher. BASICALLY Urban Outfitter's clothes is not the best quality, but very much over priced. You can probably find similar looking clothing at a different cheaper store, or once again, a thrift shop.

I have a few pairs of BDG shorts, I guess the jeans aren’t as good as the shorts but the shorts are amazing and worth the price. Other than that I agree, some of there items I place in my wish list and find almost the same thing cheaper at other stores. I’ve also bought a few graphic tees from UO and I never wear them. They aren’t the best quality and look kinda like shit because of the material.
