If she would have just trimmed and styled that wig... I mean it wouldn't be great but better than this... And the cap is probably for hiding the bad roots of the wig.

Honestly if she didn't wear that wig and the baseball cap, tied her hair in a ponytail and wore some smarter shoes this could've been a look. But instead, looking like a wannabe Kardashian again.

And yea... I'd rather her say nothing about the political situation in HK. It would be the dumbest move on her part, and she should just stay quiet both because she's not an expert in the topic and it will not do her or Tom's business any good. It's basically a catch 22 bc no matter which side she comes down on, she'd just be flamed by the opposite side.

Also she already said something in one of her videos a few months ago where she herself stated that bc she's not an expert, she knows it's not her place to say anything (and then I think she said something generic about wishing everyone safe). Taylor's far from stupid; after seeing how netizens reacted to that one article on one of Tom's sites, I'm sure she doesn't need a PR specialist to tell her what to do in order to avoid controversy from here on.

I completely agree with you.

I don't think we can just assume she doesn't want to do anything to help. My partner has to travel to China often because he is a service engineer, I tried to get him to sign a petition for HK but he explained that he couldn't because it would simply endanger him if he were to be associated with any of it.

Eh... helping people affected by the political situation in any way would probably only open her up to criticism. If she helps the protestors/ rioters, she's immediately anti-China without even having to say it.

Also I honestly don't know if it's really possible to help in the situation right now. It's gone so far beyond what it initially was that it's not like she can join a peaceful non-violent march, because there aren't any of those anymore. It's just rioters fighting police every other weekend, and now on the weeknights too. There's also been issues with the money that's flowing into the rioting - for example, say you donate money to a kickstarter that's set up to help the protestors in HK. Where is that money going? If it's to buy gas masks and umbrellas, then that's legal, but there have been molotov cocktails thrown in recent days. If that kickstarter money went to making petrol bombs or molotov cocktails, that's technically funding a terrorist organisation abroad.

The situation is so out of the hands of non-political individuals because the HK government has fucked up so badly. There were so many opportunities to either de-escalate the situation but the government never took them, and it even escalated the situation even more with things like the mask ban. The only routes forwards are either the government cracks under pressure (whether from rioting or from Beijing) or the rioters wear themselves out.

And honestly, most regular people know what to do and how to avoid the violence; they read news updates, avoid the busiest places at night, and go home early if needed. Most of the people sustaining injuries or risking their lives are either rioters or police, neither of which can she publicly support without shooting herself in the foot. It also might not have occurred to her but the people that are the most vulnerable are the homeless who have limited mobility. But even then, if she says that the riots have been negatively affecting the city and to donate to homeless shelters, she is definitely going to get people either arguing politics in her comments or interrogating her political allegiances.

I can bet that most people in her SM comments asking about the HK situation aren't from HK. Anyone from HK would know that she of all people can do jack shit for this situation other than tank her channel the minute she mentions anything political.

Also what is with her and terrible wigs, honestly. She had that pink one as well, which was even worse than this one. Meh, well at least she's trying something new with her style, even if it isn't working.

I think if she focused on doing charity work without mentioning the protests, it would be a great way of acknowledging that not all is well in HK without upsetting anyone.

But of course, that would mean doing something without the end goal of going viral or having some sort of personal gain so...

As much as I don't like PR posts, she's 100% entitled to posting them. Every influencer does it, it's a good way to market herself and not posting about it doesn't undo the "already rich person receiving more free stuff".

Maybe I sound bitter but it’s annoying seeing someone in the same place like you who talks about amazing bath bombs while 500 meters away from me there is tear gas right this moment.

Life goes on for her, for all of us. Is it justified to expect of her to stop going about her daily life because there's protests she can't do anything about near her and would endanger herself if she chose to associate herself with it?

The baseballcap photo is ugly.

It's one thing to let life go on, but it's a whole different thing to brag with the expensive things you got for free while people outside in your city are fighting for their rights and getting injured. Right now is one of the worst times in HK and she's just acting completely ignorant. Stay silent instead of bragging. Good for her that she doesn't have to leave the house and can get everything delivered, but someone has to work on those deliveries and be out there in the middle of the protests.

Just like Quaelle says - to me she should stay silent instead of bragging at this time.
I don’t expect her to talk about, people would eat her alive in comments, doesn’t matter which side she would take. I read so much nasty crap in comment sections I don’t even want to mention it.

But with all this she pretends like nothing happens outside considering it’s one of the darkest times I’ve seen since the protests started.

Her livelihood and finances don’t depend on her being an influencer, I think she maybe could have postpone it or reject the PR package.

Maybe I’m too naive, but I see people putting road blocks on my street, I actually seen people arrested below my home, I was stuck in my area because buses were suspended and metro was closed. For four night straight there’s been tear gas fired close to my home. University is a warzone, now police entered another university. People are hurting each other, just see what happens in Sheung Shui. I can’t pretend this is not happening, despite trying to live a normal life. I wouldn’t be able to do all the ‘can’t wait to try these’ knowing what’s happening outside.

In one of her vlogs she kinda spoke about her feelings, what’s happening etc. I could feel her, she quite well expressed how I felt, that’s why to me it’s hard to understand why when she knows what’s going on, how situation is escalating, I just don’t find it appropriate? I’m sorry I can’t put my feelings into words, it’s just I think if she did it like Sam is Home or quiet down like some of influencers I would understand it more than just living her trophy wife freebie life.

if that’s an OT, then I’m sorry :alpacaworry:

I’m just here to say I agree about the charity work. I follow 2 successful people on IG that no longer have to struggle due to their brands taking off and what do they do with their free time? One helps feed the homeless and the other volunteers helping kids after school.

Taylor does nothing all day but care about herself. It would make her a lot cooler if she did something to help others for free.

Please stay safe! I'm so sorry about everything happening there, and I wish the best for those of you in Hong Kong. I genuinely hope you and your loved ones are okay at this time!

I actually agree with what you're saying, as well. It would be nice to see her do something worthwhile! To see her be charitable and do something positive despite the chaos that's happening there. Besides that, it would convince me that she's not obsessed with her cushy life and does nothing except look pretty.

Her doing (or not doing) charitable things is probably a wider issue with her lifestyle. She's always been fortunate and affluent, with a very family friendly aura about her social media, so she could've and should've done charity work all along and it probably would've served her image well if she documented some of it (this being 100% cynical analysis). However, I get why (hypothetically) she wouldn't want to show any possible charity work, because I can imagine people saying 'oh you're just showing your charity work to get brownie points/ internet clout'. Also we don't know what she does offline, I mean she managed to keep Tom's identity secret for years so she's completely capable of keeping things private.

As for showing the PR packages right now - when else is she supposed to show them? From what I can see the protests will probably continue into the new year, I really don't think there's a 'good time' to show them. I also assume some of those PR packages are for Christmas (the Lush one definitely is) so she obviously has to show them before the holiday season.

It is funny though that the Nars collection she recently showed was from 2018 and she only just found it lol.

Compared to other youtubers, her PR packages are quickly shown and put on instagram so quickly that you cant even enjoy the product or think about buying it. IMO (ive given into products from other youtubers so I know lol)

I wish a family member could live in their apartment in Canada or something. That way they aren't wasting empty space.

I completely agree! It would definitely make more interesting content than giant backpacks, bikini towels, and hour-long videos where nothing happens.

yes there's the possibility of people saying shes clout-chasing, but would it really be more clout-chasing than what she already does?
