He uploaded LWIAY today. Last I checked the subreddit r/PewdiepieSubmissions was down. It was probably previously filmed.

Do you think Pewds will make a statement on video? Maybe he'll just be making his usual content, let the focus on him fade away?

It probably makes more sense for him to not make a video about it. If everyone's right and all the attention is what the terrorist wanted then making a video about it to his massive audience would be playing into the terrorist's hands.

I agree. He's given his condolenses to the families and he'll likely donate in private.

He should NOT make any further statements as that's exactly what the terrorist wanted. By staying silent, he'll silence the killer.

You can't go around having alt-right influences that you clearly support and flirt with like Pewdiepie does (such as recommending their videos, their books, and having those people on your shows) and then go around saying racist and anti-Semitic shit - only to shrug and say people can't have opinions on that repeated behavior and act as if it's unrelated when it absolutely is related.

I don't know how anyone excuses the shit he says and does under the guise of him being dumb or naive... he is NEITHER of those things. The fact that he puts on that persona is absolutely intentional with him - to make you second guess the problematic things he says, to try and alleviate the tension of otherwise clearly controversial opinions, and hoping they get a pass...which they do! Which is also pretty fucked up.

At some point you have to look at the actual facts as they are, and stop giving someone the benefit of the doubt.  Many of his followers don't have the brain-power to discern between satire or social commentary which Felix and his followers keep trying to excuse his actions as - which in itself is clearly just a excuse, done to muddy the waters of his own responsibility and innocence. And again, so many people fall for it.

To get others to attack anyone who does second-guess his motives, and actually believe and continually defend him to be 'joking' or 'innocent' only to put the person calling out his clearly troublesome behavior as an 'enemy' for daring to call him out. THAT'S Very fucking dangerous.  I don't give a shit if he's just a youtuber, he has influence and this is what his followers do (as seen in some comments here) and that shit needs to be taken seriously. While people continue to defend him and dismiss anyone pointing out the absolutely serious issues raised with him - this shit will continue to fester and cause division. That''s entirely on his fans and supporters.  So own up to your own roles and responsibilities in it and realize the serious nature of supporting and defending this kind of bigotry.

I have no respect for Pewds and even less in his fanbase and anyone who keeps letting him off the hook and use their fanbase in such a vile manner.

What are the alt-right influences he's supporting? I remember the recommendation for that one youtube channel who had some nazi joke/references that were honestly obscure enough for normal (non-nazi) people to miss them. Paired with the fact that it was among about 20 other channels I understand that he didn't check everything on every channel. It was a gesture of support to smaller creators from the biggest one on the platform. People found the nazi-stuff and Pewdiepie removed his recommendation for that channel.

I don't see having people whos political views don't align with your own on your show as something bad. Also people seem to forget the fact that Ben Shapiro who was on is a Jewish man. Why would a nazi-supporter have a Jewish man host his show?

I've never seen him encourage attacking anyone who disagrees with him, I've only seen him tell people to not do it.

You're making it seem like Pewdiepie is an evil calculated mastermind. He's really just a dude who makes dumb jokes and was lucky enough to build an audience on it. He's toned it down compared to before, and he does actually seem to learn from his mistakes.

The reason I asked what the alt-right influences he's supporting are is because I fucking hate nazis, and if I honestly believed Pewdiepie supports nazis I would not support him anymore. I think calling someone a nazi-supporter for something like a dumb joke is dangerous and normalizes the view that nazis are just people who make dumb jokes. But what do I know, I lack the brain-power to understand it all huh.

people think that if you support ben shapiro or jordan peterson youre a nazi (which is dumb for several reasons) the national socialist party was forced to stop adding members in 1945 with the end of WW2 and nazi isnt a term people should just throw around people who have similar ideologies to the nazis now are neo-nazis which is a different group that includes a larger pool of targets and ideas along with an entirely different set of reasons of why they came to the need to identify with neo-nazism

anyway jordan peterson and ben shapiro literally arent alt-right theyre moderate conservatives (though ben shapiro is more conservative than jordan peterson)

felix is obviously too much of a dumbass to be a master manipulator tbh

(The thread is getting a little political; I hope we can get things back on track)!

I saw this on the subreddit as well. I think closing it for a few days was a smart move, but I just think it’s best to make a few rule changes and move on. No need to make a long, drawn-out statement and give the shooter more attention.

I respect how Felix handled this situation. He skipped uploading for a day, made a tweet, and continued as normal. Good for him.

Yep, his fanbase seems to be debating the continued use of "Subscribe to Pewdiepie" and it sounds like they're going to use it as normal too.  Which I was iffy about at first, but after reading through several opinions. I agree they can't let the terrorist take that phrasing.

Tbh it's not his fanbase's choice to make. Pewds and over all the worlds feelings on it are gonna make the choice.

No one is going to stop saying subscribe to x youtuber completely because in the end everyone is gonna recommend people to subscribe to and it's a part of youtube's system.  The shooter could never take that sort of phrasing. The shooter will never actually gets what he truly wants cause hes a fucking idiot who never realized when disaster strikes humans actually are shown to try and help and become closer and if the bullshit he wanted didn't happen with all the other shootings that had people on 4chan,it wouldn't happen with his.

The memes about the pewdiepie channel against t-series however can be tainted. And if Pewds wants it to stop they should respect that and stop.

And if a lot of people feels it's too disrespectful to keep the "meme fight" going, then it's going to die in the end.  And I doubt Pewdiepie is gonna fight them.

The whole T-series vs PewdiePie thing is now associated with a shooting forever.  If people like or not. Only time can tell if people decide it's too tainted or not.

See, you're doing exactly what I said you would. Deny, justify, defend, downplay and make out I'm the enemy with a political agenda, and he and you are all just innocent bystanders and I'm the meanie for not laughing along with you.

I love it when in trying to undermine me, you actually highlight EXACTLY what I was saying about him and his problematic stans, an why it's so dangerous that they get away with shit like this.  So Thanks.

Overall in the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal, I think! I could also see him doing a charity livestream or something to remedy things a little more, even though it seems like a lot of this has blown over to an extent.

It does seem like Felix is starting to heavily consider his following; at least, I hope that's the message he's trying to convey with this. His twitter has unfollowed everyone but the BTS account. Though it could be a meme of some kind, I do hope he'll just follow friends/fellow creators and maybe align himself with some positive people.

No, I disagreed with you. And you didn't adress any of my points, you went straight to playing the victim.

Anyway, I honestly think the whole "subscribe to pewdiepie" thing is going to continue because people literally forget these things a week after, as well as the fact that a lot of people probably never even heard about it. Pewdiepie has fans all over the world and it's not like a shooting in a country on the other side of the world is top news for everyone when so many other awful things happen locally.

I’m not really sure how to feel about him unfollowing everyone. On one hand, it’s a good move that he’s unfollowed some of the more controversial people, but it also kind of feels like he turned it into a joke by unfollowing everyone except for BTS.

I just wish he’d make a serious video denouncing all of this stuff. While I still don’t think he’s an alt-right extremist like someone like Jontron for multiple reasons, I think he really should address it or clarify what he thinks in a video.
