Hello everyone,   As promised, we're working on some changes to improve the forum and community! So far, here are the recent changes: Negative reputation has been disabled. Upvoting remains intact. This is a trial run to deal with whiteknights brigading certain topics and salty users mass-downvoting users they disagree with. Some text formatting options have been removed. Some users like to format their posts in ways that make them harder to read or downright obnoxious. (Light colors, tiny fonts, etc), so this helps make threads more readable. If you find yourself needing post formatting because you're making a new thread, please contact a mod and we will make it happen. New threads have to be approved anyway, so you're not going to have to start out with an ugly thread. Text formatting remains available to all users who have supported us via Patreon. No more threads on "Online Personalities". We will NOT lock or remove old threads, but we won't approve new threads about people who don't have any history of drama or controversies. Some threads will be moved to the snowflake sections if applicable. Read the new topic guidelines before you make a new thread. Here are our works in progress: New categories will be added. "Little Snowflakes" is too broad of a spectrum, so we're going to sort our flakes into a few sub-sections to keep things organized. We will also make more use of tags for those flakes who transcend categories. This will also allow us to appoint moderators to specific categories or snowflakes. New moderators will be onboarded soon.

As for the age of consent thing, I hope they made it clear that it's never practiced. As @redbowkiki said, each prefecture has their own. No, it is not legally going to be okay to do stuff with a 13 year old. Ask a certain recent Japan celebrity about that. He got busted going to a karaoke place with (I believe) a sixteen year old. He was in his 40s at the time. He's in huge trouble for it and likely to lose his job if his apology tour fails.

NOPE! They did NOT make it clear that the law is a bare minimum guideline and each prefecture has its own laws and the effective age of consent is almost always 16. I watched the whole damn video because I wanted to make sure. They just made the 'urk' face and moved on.

Yea I don't think Chris Broad joined TC for a primarily business reason. He has over 1m subs and has always been doing really well before TC, so I don't really see TC adding anything to his business model in terms of profit. I think he benefited from TC helping with his cycling trip but that's about it. I guess when your friends start up a group you want to be part of it, right? And as much as we're jaded and suspicious, TC isn't illegal in any way, it's just... unoriginal and cliquey. I also think for TC to work/ take off, Chris had to be in it since he's the biggest jvlogger.

What I do agree that it's weird for Kim Dao to be in TC when she lives in Aus and has to travel to Tokyo to meet with her agency? I guess most of the random things should be done over skype and TC gives her an excuse to travel to Tokyo. Maybe it keeps the door open for a visa sponsorship if she ever wants to go back to Japan?

Other things about TC:

- Sharla is not listed on their influencer page but is listed on their 'team' page as a content creator (?)

- TC signing Kim Dao makes less sense when it seems like the non-Japan market they want to expand into is probably Taiwan (I remember watching their house tour video and the only interesting thing was that they had a dude on their team who had something to do with Taiwan)

lmao they are fucking ridiculous. Who tf would spend that amount of money for their useless advice? What a rip off. Their “company” serves no purpose whatsoever. Maybe I sound overly bitter but Tokyo Creative/Okano serious piss me off. Something just rubs me the wrong way about him, & the company is a joke. Charging people a silly amount of money to learn information that they could get easily for free is so slimy. Learn by trial and error and free resources online! U don’t need to spend money. I’m sure none of the vloggers people look up spent money on a subscription service for advice, lmao.

I think the idea of this site is just stupid. I am disappointed because I actually like Chris Okano.

Did Taylor B get some facial surgery recently and I missed it? Or has she just lost more weight and now her face looks different? She just posted a vid, and i mean it could be the makeup, but i do not recognize her at all.

What else can you expect when scANIME MAN is featured/ involved? 9_9

Unless they do some sort of 1-on-1 type of training... or help you film, edit, name your videos... or give personalized advice regarding other subjects.. though in some cases, other type of specialists might be needed (say, lawyers)...

She lost quite some weight and I think she learned her angles a bit. I also think she did something with her lashes, but I don't think she had permanent work done. (I remember she made a video about getting heavier treatment for her skin, but nothing about actual surgery)

i used to be a subscriber for the TC channel but quickly it grew boring. I dont know why have a channel where people sit in an office to discuss (already-discussed and shared) concepts all over again. It gave the vibe of how privileged individuals live either in Japan or anywhere else. Japan is already overly-represented across the jvlogging scene so it is a bit too overbearing to watch another channel based on the same topic.

ah, thanks! and good for her! I've been struggling with my own weight loss, so i'm glad someone is killing it. For some reason this vid really highlights the changes

I really think the point about this is you get to interact with all this youtubers not the "lessons". It seems the topics they address are a little more in-depth than their usual videos.

Honestly I see no problem with it, I don't think is very appealing, at least to me but is not like is crazy expensive either. Is going to be interesting to see if they are serious about it or they drop it if they don't get a decent amount of subscriptions. There is another stream with Anime Man and Aki in a couple of days in case someone wants to check.

I mean... they're basically charging slightly less than a Netflix subscription for things you can google. 6.99 a month for a subscription to readily available information is pretty steep, so really it's just a subscription to watching some exclusive content made by their YTers.

It's not even that interactive because there's a once a month live stream, so the interaction is what you're interested in you get it once a month! Just like on Chris Broad's patreon...

The most interesting aspect that I don't see them pushing in their video adverts is the 'competitions' where you can essentially submit your work to TC and get it noticed by your favourite senpai influencer. If TC don't have a decent legal team defining the rules of the competition I can see it being a cluster fuck with people submitting their entries and not getting picked/ noticed and one of the influencers posting something similar sometime down the line and getting smacked with copyright. If they do have a decent legal team then the small print would probably say something about 'retaining all material submitted' and associated ideas... which would be a PR nightmare.

Imo from the video titles listed on the TC website, their videos are nothing a normal YTer wouldn't make on their own channel. Tech equipment, job experiences, etc. Also:

I can't believe Joey's shitty anime waifu pillow is a considered appropriate for a giveaway...

Nice place but 2k USD is a lot of money for rent IMO.

That's the Spacia Ebisu (スペーシア恵比寿) apartment complex in Shibuya/Ebisu. My friend Brenda lives there and she throws the most amazing parties! She only serves gin from the craft gin market near Shibuya station and she claims the tonic is also craft but I don't believe her. But I digress... anyway, I immediately recognized the building from its unique architectural flourishes and interior features. I like to say that it's very "90s chic" because it does sort of evoke the design style of that era. Imagine my surprise when I looked it up just now and learned that it was built in 2003! At least, I think it's the same place, but I'm not exactly sure because I've misplaced my glasses again...

Here is the view from the balcony during the day:

ugh this is so cringy...and creepy too

OMG...Yes, honey! That's exactly what I was feeling when I watched that video. I don't know this guy but he seems to desperately need the approval of others and thinks he can get it by being as shallow and predictable as possible. Forcing his "Creators" to call him "CEO" and titling the video Our CEO's Apartment Tour in Western Tokyo. Then going around showing off little boring trinkets and captioning them for the viewers (as if we cared) while telling their equally boring history... what a snoozefest! It reminded me of that old Hollywood film Harriet Craig starring the legendary Joan Crawford. I remember watching it in the theaters when it came out in 1950 and I was spellbound. Of course, nowadays we can conveniently watch it on YouTube... lol

In the movie, Crawford plays a manipulative, self-obsessed, desperately insecure woman who wants everyone to believe that her life is perfect--basically Chris Okano in a dress. One evening she throws a party and gives the female guests a tour of her exquisitely decorated home, telling them a rehearsed story about a Chinese vase that comes off as very stilted and awkward. Here is the scene:

The TC video reminded me exactly of that scene!

But then he takes cringeworthy to a whole new level when he shows the girls his bedroom and says "THIS....IS...WHERE...THE..." and then Emma (supposedly) spontaneously interrupts him "...WHERE THE SLEEP HAPPENS!" Oh dear...what was that all about? Are we supposed to believe that he's some sort of lady's man getting lots of action in bed? Sorry don't buy it! And that was even more awkward and obviously more rehearsed than Joan Crawford's Chinese vase speech.

Pathetic.

I feel like there must be a benefit for the jvloggers in Tokyo creative. Tokyo Creative doesn't seem like a sound business model, but we'll see.

I agree. The possibilities I can think of are:

- visa sponsorship

- outsourcing product deal management and having TC seek out further product placements for a cut of the revenue

- networking/ shoulder rubbing/ clique bragging rights?

DAMN SON!!! they are promoting this shit of a cosplay as if it is even  proper content! the studio they chose was one on the cheaper end of the spectrum.... why  on earth is YT suggesting this thing to me!!! how many times should i click not interested for them to understand. I mean they have the freaking money and resources, we were just discussing this Aki's "cosplay" in their thread. Didnt expect they would even bring them in TC. That is telling of thir quality and aim to be honest (just for the money ofc)
