as an adult who follows a lot of gossip news on the entertainment industry, I've always wondered why these kid stars from nick and disney were always effed up by the end of their acting stints, AND NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE. as a kid, i didn't watch much TV and had only heard of shows like drake & josh, and victorious from friends who did watch them at the time when they came out episode by episode, so i've never actually SEEN these shows as a kid, and im glad because nowwwww i've watched all of victorious, along with sam & cat on netflix through my adult eyes, without the influence of nostalgia, and WHOA MY GOD it is messed up! even though Justice is a great actress, you can SEE her micro-expressions of resent and discomfort the further it gets along till season 3 where it is the most apparent. Ariana's dance moves in the show and behind the scenes are all unnecessarily provocative for someone her age, and i wondered about that. her skirts were always the shortest when compared to the other characters, and i can see why she's dan's favorite. she literally looks like pedo bait all through the entire show! and sure, 16 yr old ariana can enjoy wearing whatever she wants, but knowing there was a gross creep behind the camera instructing all of this, made it all the more gross. also somewhere after S2, victoria's delivery of the lines change and she sounds stilted, like she's lost her heart, and i think something may have happened then, which led to the show being cancelled 12 eps later. alll speculation until she actually speaks up about it? i feel gross for even enjoying the show for 5 seconds and laughing at the jokes. and im thankful to this thread for existing because now i hate that p3do, DAN SNEEDER
shane and jeffree are both v smart and v problematic in almost the same ways, so maybe that's why they get along so well!
both are OG's (jeffree with myspace and shane with yt) and both have Stans that are enablers up to 100000%. in their fan's eyes, or even to the casual content consumer who don't follow the dramas/scandals, these two can do no wrong, so when the OG's joined forces (as """"friends"""", actual friends? and business partners) it felt like cult growth, because now these two oceans of fans can merge together and stan their problematic favs in sweet harmony. that's not to say that J-star & shane don't have redeeming qualities that make them lovable (they must have, otherwise how are they so freaking loved?!), but this type of cult-y behavior can easily be dangerous, and Jeffree is definitely smart about being on camera with Shane. there's info here and there about them having sold a million units? and Jeffree was tweeting saying they've officially s o l d o u t every unit of the palette, but at the mall of america meet and greet, the morphe store was armed with several thousand more boxes, so much that even a person standing in line for 4 - 5 hours managed to buy one. it makes you think.... that the docuseries stuff was definitely more staged than they'd like us to believe. Shane was soBbing / having an anxiety attack about having over-ordered a million palettes, but if J* is really smart, im sure he would've compensated for the fact that they both have over 39m followers combined, and 1m palettes is not nearrrly enough for a significant amount of ppl to have them? Just thoughts....
my info could be wrong. twitter is my info source. ALSO idk how i feel about shane glorifying slobbiness and excusing it with being mentally ill. i read a comment somewhere that explains exactly how i feel: shane is someone who makes mental illness look like a fucking theme and markets being gross "relatable" and Jeffree is a rags-to-riches horror show where we slowly watch him lose his friends and professional contacts due to a nasty personality.
poor ryland. he looks SO unamused and unhappy wearing that shade. it reaaaallly doesnt suit him, and you'd think shane would've picked a shade that could've suited his bf better if he really cared and had "learned a lot" about makeup during his docuseries journey??
and i don't feel one way or another about shane, but whenever i see the loose top part of his t-shirt hang low over his hairy chest, it looks SO0o cringe-slobby, i get super grossed out. but i guess that being a slob is what makes shane suPeR relatable.....
imallexx always gave me weird/bad vibes whenever i clicked on his vids. idk if its his body language on camera or the way he speak but he just rubs me the wrong way. he also strikes me as someone who is only on YouTube for the money and clout, pushing his merch and reporting on stories that'll only get him clicks.
