We've heard you loud and clear - negative reputation is back. Remember that it's still against the rules to complain about being downvoted - if you think someone's mass-downvoting posts or otherwise abusing the reputation system, DM a mod and we will take care of it.
Coco doesn't realize that regardless of whether her words about the company's alleged mistreatment were justified or not, the way she handled herself was completely uncalled for, classless, and malicious in regards to Sori. The more mud Coco slings, the more she tarnishes her own reputation for lacking not only professionalism, but general decency. You would think she would do her former partner the courtesy of discussing any feelings of personal injury in private instead of spreading rumors, yet she chose to talk about everything online. Here, Coco claimed not wanting to "be fake and promote [Sori's] songs" while also admitting Sori had promoted her before. She's utterly duplicitous and it is absolutely necessary for her company to take action, because she is harming Sori's reputation while Sori works on her new solo.
How is it that the moment after Kenna "apologizes," she immediately proceeds to do something else worthy of an apology? Implying that those who aren't being "understanding" of her utter assholery are just being difficult or too stupid to see that she's actually "trying" when bitch where. "I'm sorry you feel the way I genuinely feel is an excuse, that's something you have decided for yourself" "I think it's very obvious that I have been working on things" "If people refuse to see that, [don't] follow or look at my account"
She should've become an English assistant instead of attempting to actually study Japanese. It would be the perfect role for her--simply standing at the front and repeating some phrase in English that the teacher wrote on the board while the children fawn over her foreignness. Her work ethic is so poor for activities that are already so malleable and potentially enjoyable (i.e. making Youtube videos) that I cannot imagine her suddenly immersing herself in a rigorous educational environment; she's far too proud. The "kitsune" username is still ridiculous to me because I come from a place where we don't even pronounce "key" like "ki," it sounds more like a short "kay." People attempted to help her correct her pronunciation guide, but she can't even comprehend the American (Californian) accent isn't universal. The homogeneity of Japan is going to hit her eventually. It's not something that could've been experienced in her past trips to sticking only to the tourist-packed Takeshita Street and Disneyland. I feel she is quite similar to mikan.mandarin in that she will have to adopt her "otherness" into her portrayal of self because she will be incapable of a complete immersion (necessitating fluency and humility and blending in with the crowd [something she cannot even accomplish in the states]). It's the sad but honest truth that foreigners are a bit of a novelty in Japan. If you watch Japanese media, you can discern the thing they love about foreigners are 1) their ability to speak English 2) their mispronunciations/mistakes in Japanese. But those who turn to "cute" culture such as mikan.mandarin and Venus create their identity so the first thing that separates them from the Japanese crowd isn't their ethnicity, but their style. Kenna's style seems to have calmed since her last visit to Japan, but I predict a reversion to becoming a spectacle. She feeds off the attention.
This is the truth. I'd love it if Coco could get a reality check from ruthless Korean netizens, but she's too pathetically irrelevant for anyone to even care.
Even popular Korean pop stars get bashed by the online Korean community once they begin turning to Youtube and such--if a person is generally disliked and lacks talent, they get nowhere. Coco underestimated the weight of a good personality in the business. But it's a bit humorous (and sad) how being a nobody protects her; she should actually count her lucky stars that essentially no one is interested in her life.
This is the issue that continuously comes up whenever Kenna goes on her aromantic asexual spiels. She's like a caricature of the aromantic asexual, or some ten year old's aromantic asexual OC on Deviantart in that multiple parts of her personality are attributed to her identity as an aromantic asexual, when it's just simply her personality alone as an asshole. Everything's inflated. Asexuals can have sex and aromantic people can date, but you'd never know that from the way Kenna talks about it. She wants to be oppressed so she can sit at the table with other LGBT, thus she'll exaggerate incidents like people asking her why she didn't date in middle school when it's a nonissue. She's too unworldly and irresponsible for her platform because if she had grown up around the LGBT kids who literally grapple with suicide and actual isolation over their identity, she would have never embellished the stories she's lived through as something brave. AGAIN, reiterating--Aromantics/asexuals do experience some ignominy in this society. I don't think anyone is denying that. Kenna could be telling the truth about what she experienced; it doesn't lessen the fact that she's using this as a story of hardship when it's actually irrelevant and could more be a story about general bullying than about her sexual identity. Furthermore, I see most of the judgment towards asexuals in the LGBT community being formed precisely off of what Kenna continues to do: be insensitive.
Up your sex-loving assholes? She may not have meant it in this sense but that is precisely the kind of comment a homophobe would make. She completely lacks empathy and understanding (oh, but right, we're supposed to expect that from the Ice Queen who can't even say I love you or apologize to her friends, so that makes being inconsiderate okay. ) She's not the exemplar of the aromantic asexual, she's the exemplar of the type of asexuals the LGBT community hates, the type of asexuals who attempt to piggyback off of stories of LGBT that were borne from blood and sweat in the fight to be seen as human beings. When a dialogue does attempt to happen, she just whines about not being in the community and then drivels this offensive garbage that shows her real priorities and perspective.
It's disgusting to me how so many online personalities these days are trying to capitalize on oppression by suddenly (and oh-so-conveniently) trying to claim an identity to populations they've never bothered addressing before when the identity didn't benefit them. (also exemplified in Mariah Mallad suddenly, constantly reiterating now she's Muslim/Arab [in spite of just saying Italian and Lebanese in the past] as if it's a shield against valid criticism.) Kenna literally chooses to shape her identity around whatever suits her--Middle Eastern for boho phase, West Asian for kpop/anime phase. Asexual for the non-heterosexual audience looking for public figures who share their struggles. The point of the matter is that Kenna has never truly been oppressed in regards to cultural identity or sexual identity. Because as others have stated, she's white-passing and straight-passing. She may not like it, but it's the truth. The thing Kenna doesn't understand is that she doesn't get to decide for herself whether or not she's experienced actual oppression. It's decided by the facts, and it's just obvious from her own fucking anecdotes that she has no idea what the struggle is actually like. Someone who talks about reverse racism when someone brings up police brutality has not ever really suffered from racism. (Any asexuals who read this and want to refute "no, I have suffered from being asexual"--I honestly don't doubt there is stigma asexuals face, but it seriously can't compare to everything the LGBT community has suffered i.e. rampant physical abuse and murder.)
I fully support her starting to use the name "cozykitsune" in video introductions, further and forever establishing herself as the Fairy Queen of Japan, our Lord Shitsune . Imagine Kenna doing collaborative videos with other Youtubers and the hosts have to introduce her as cozykitsune (and having to teach those poor non-Japanese speakers how to pronounce it). Viewers who don't know her will assume she's just another one of those cringey uwu kawaii girls, and knowing how critical people on the internet can be, I can already feel the future projected waves of judgment.
Got to love Kenna, our queen of logic and Japanese.
How is ki-tsu and kit-sue even the same? She's lucky she's studying Japanese--she'd be annihilated trying to learn Mandarin, Cantonese, or even Korean. "People who don't speak Japanese won't understand the pronunciation/they always pronounce the ne wrong so let me just tell them how to pronounce it wrong, in another way." If she really is going to move to Japan, seems she's already par for the course for becoming like mikan.mandarin and educating the "uninformed" about kimono. But it will be even more difficult for Kenna to attempt to show off her Japanese skills with more people ready to correct her any time she slips up--and then again when she tries to defend her slip-up by saying she already knew better. I'm certain there's a good percentage of her followers who know more Japanese than her.
With most internet personalities changing their handle to something more professional once they gain traction (i.e. princessmei using Mei Yan), it's kind of bizarre to see Kenna go the other way. And a Japanese name is simply in poor taste considering how it just reminds people of the claims about her Asian fetish (but it's okay because she's West Asian ). I wonder if a part of Kenna is worried about people petitioning against her the same way they did with Edward Avila (in regards to him losing a chance to collab with A.C.E. with the boycott threats). She can't even work with Yesstyle without people leaving negative comments.
A person named like a My Little Pony character with subpar voice acting skills becoming this "popular" is just the epitome of fandom mob mentality. Once a few people in the group like you, you're set with a continuous chain flow of support. Doesn't help that she's cringey with a victim complex. And sorry to those who enjoy stuff like this, but I honestly find fandub content a too often unbalanced relationship between the artist and fandubber. I'm sure there are some that are respectful but beyond the fact that a lot of people just don't ask the artist's permission in general, it's obvious fandubbers like Grace only see artist content as fodder for their own feed (despite voicing other superficial support for the artist). People like her are the reasons why artists start to post their work with "Do not use for fandubs." Additionally, why would an artist want their work associated with someone who's this much of an asshole to other people? It's baffling. This girl desperately needs a break from social media. She's become too reliant on online attention as validation.
Just checked out the videos, and honestly, Dove isn't a bad singer--she sounds fairly stable in her vocals despite the choreography. However, when she's speaking in these roles, she uses a lot of high inflections (almost sounds like Kristin Chenoweth) and because we know her voice doesn't naturally sound like that, she's making her characters appear too artificial. That's fine for Amber, but not for Sophie. Dove simply has too many image issues and it's restricting her abilities. She can't be honest in her roles if she can't even be honest with herself. I sincerely hope she works on some self-love.
