We've heard you loud and clear - negative reputation is back. Remember that it's still against the rules to complain about being downvoted - if you think someone's mass-downvoting posts or otherwise abusing the reputation system, DM a mod and we will take care of it.
Yeah, but at least the other weeb vloggers upload content to their niche audience. Just look at Sharla or even Mikan. I don't think their content are good per se, but at least they upload SOMETHING. I think Kenna saw all these jvloggers doing that while living the weeb dream and thought she could do that as well (she was already a youtuber afterall). The problem is, Kenna has made 8 videos since she moved there on January 1st, this is like 2.5 videos per month, and they are not even good. Seriously, is this a joke? I understand the first weeks were all about setting herself there, but now SHE IS settled there and she still manages to struggle with creating and uploading content. A lot of channels start with weak videos and then get better, is not rocket science. After all her plagiarism scandals I think she needs to learn how to create everything from scratch and get better at it, the problem is we all know she is too lazy to do that. I don't think her being a weeb and trying to live the Japan dream to be the biggest problem here, I mean we all know there was nothing waiting for her in the US since she doesn't want to have a regular job nor go to college. I think there is a niche out there to consume this type of weeb shit (I mean, all the jvloggers survive on that, don't they?), the problem is that she is in the middle of this: - she doesn't produce the same type of content that made her known in the first place and her overall aesthetic can't reflect that either - she fails to produce any Japan related content, being that weeb or "local/cultural" driven. Almost all her latest videos look like all the others she made while living in the US, and that content was already pretty bad in comparison with her boho phase. The fear of admitting that she is a weeb and that she went there because she is a weeb (and not even a knowledgeable one) is preventing her to create content - good or bad - because she wants to act all hight and mighty as a local, without actually being one. So everything she produces is a mess, because it doesn't look like anything.
Let's also not forget that the whole plagiarism fiasco really affected her content. As we all know, she has a bland personality (which isn't wrong per se, a lot of influencers are like this and it's fine) but a shitty attitude, so when everything went down it really affected the quality of everything she produced: her poetry wasn't exactly good but it got worse once she had to write everything by herself, her pics and videos got uglier, she became worried and avoided talking about certain topics after a lot of backlash (like cruelty free products and buddhism, even anime for that matter). The fact that she fucked her hair also screwed things up, because let's not forget that Kenna became known in the first place because of her overall style, even if it wasn't exactly original at all. Her weeb phase also came to make everything even more shaky, because it affected her aesthetic in a reaaaally bad way, just look at her current fashion choices and make up, they simply don't suit her at all... If her weeb aesthetic looked more like nekomatahime, nekomarion, hexzen or yukatsu, then MAYBE it would work, but how it is right now is just ugly?? I always think that maybe if her content were more similar to what Jordan Clark and Lavendaire produce with obviously a Japan twist since her weeb ass wants to live there so bad, her channel could really grow. The point is, does she truly wants it? 🤔
It's amazing what angles can do, right? I think this is one of the worst angles for her face right now, it ages her so much. This hairstyle is so short, it frames her face in a really awkward way, it makes her face wider I think? I guess it's because it lacks volume after all the bleaching... God it's like she doesn't know how to pose anymore. For an influencer this downfall is hard to watch. lol
I don't like the make up, her eyebrows are still terrible and giving excuses to use aegyo sal was beyond pathetic (Kenna, it's ok if you are a weeb, at least wear it with pride), but I guess this is the first time (that I remember) that we can sort of see her skin texture. She probably used foundation and concealer off camera (and I can't say for sure there is no filter in this video) but at least this was a.. ahnn step in the right direction...ish?
It doesn't even look like she's in Japan AT ALL ??? I get the locations are supposed to "match" her fashion somehow but bitch couldn't even make this first look book to be a little bit more tokyo-like?
Not going into the merit if this whole thing is right or wrong since I'm not chicana but she sounds really misogynistic when talking about any other woman besides herself, when I read her posts is like reading a fucking cersei chapter in game of thrones or something lol
So I've counted 36 IG posts and 7 YT videos from her since she arrived in Japan almost 2.5 months ago. Which is something like almost 3 videos per month and 14 pictures. I thought she might be uploading a bit more compared to when she was in the USA but I guess it's been pretty much the same or very similar? At least she seems to be hm trying to upload a little bit more in comparison to when she was at home and would say things like "I don't have to upload an Q&A iF i DoN't WaNt To!!"
Her current style is a bit confusing to me. I don't know what it is supposed to be? Her boho phase was pretty well stablished visually, this right now is sort of all over the place. It is vintage? Tacky? Who knows.
