I've been following her for a couple years now, and I've been wondering where she went so I looked for her Instagram and she deleted all her pictures and removed her bio. I used to like her love live cosplays, I wonder what happened.
I'm not sure if your reply is aimed at me so correct me if I'm wrong but I wasn't defending her. I don't care about defending her because she's 16 or white, I did not even know she was 16. The problem is that people are going as far as to message her father (she posted screenshots in her story yesterday and people talked about it in her comments) about her. That's not okay and I still stand by my statement that sharing private information about herself and her family is far worse than anything she has done.
I don't see how that makes it okay to shame her, even for stuff that is not true, spread misinformation and post private info about her, etc. Yes she is cringey. No, she is not a threat to Korean people or Korean culture. - On another note, she is apparently learning Chinese now. Her last picture was captioned in Chinese.
I've lurked this thread for a while and have also been following Katie for a while and I've decided to share my opinion on the matter. (As a preface, yes I expect to be downvoted and no I am not fully white, so if this post happens to cause a debate I won't get the "you don't understand because you're white" comment.) I don't really see what Katie has done wrong. I'm not a friend of hers or even a fan. I followed her almost a year ago and I don't understand why she gets so much hate. In fact I find it ridiculous. I do understand that the way she used to do her makeup looks like yellowface and I do agree. However, she hasn't done her face like that in a long time. She isn't trying to make anyone believe she is Korean, or any ethnicity besides American. As for the cultural appropriation argument, I can see that being offensive (the time she wore the short cheongsam) but personally I am not and never have been offended by it because I feel that cultural appropriation is not a problem (but that is a different topic and I will not get into that right now). If you have a different opinion on the matter then it is understandable. Besides these two offenses, what has she done to deserve all the rude comments and memes about her? I don't mind discussing her at all but the people who are posting pictures of her "calling out" her "problematic" behavior are doing more harmful things than Katie has ever done.
I started following her pretty recently because I think she's cute! But I literally just saw one of her recent pictures in my insta feed and my first thought was confusion as to why she edited her eyes so unnaturally large. Despite this, I was still surprised to go through the recent threads and find her here.
Shane hasn't really been uploading much on youtube recently. I know she's busy with a baby on the way, but she has so many cute makeup looks on her instagram that she never makes videos for. Aside from that, is it just me or do many of her recent selfies look... well, nothing like her?
I just recently discovered Junie and she did kinda come across as rude. However, I look past that because I'm in love with some of her eye makeup looks I like straight/slightly arched, thick eyebrows (I don't really like hers though; I prefer softer brows, hers are too harsh). I'm not Asian but I have very soft features (ex. quite big, round eyes, very soft looking and not deep set, etc.) like a lot of Asian beauty youtubers I've seen like Mei, sichenmakeupholic, etc. so I tend to like soft, light makeup looks like Junie's.
I agree that I like her makeup videos, but I kinda miss her old looks. I absolutely love her succubus makeup tutorial; I know it was meant specifically for Halloween but honestly it could be pulled off in real life without the horns and fangs.
Her new style is cute but I just feel like her old makeup really flattered her features.
