PULL Archiving 07/22/20Hi all, I paid the server bill for the month so the site can be archived, sorry for the mess, didn't realize there'd be such an uproar. The site's in read-only mode. Happy archiving. Here's a link to a user-made PULL discord server: https://discord.gg/vZFEm75

Nyx added a topic in News & AnnouncementsPULL Is Closing.Hello everyone,
PULL has served a good purpose for many years--it's been a safe place where people could express themselves. However, I'm afraid that there are some deep issues with its culture that I can't fix.
I've been trying to find a new administrator for a long time, it hasn't worked out. I've given splinter sites time and support to form but they haven't worked out.
I've decided closing PULL is the best option. I'm going to retain the domain because I truly believe the site should not be remade. The site should be up tomorrow and go down on Wednesday morning.
Thank you for everything. Serving this community has had its ups and downs, but I'll always be proud of what we made together.

Nyx added a topic in News & AnnouncementsNew Topic Guidelines [MUST READ BEFORE MAKING A TOPIC]Starting in October 2017, we’ve decided that all new topics for Snowflakes/Personalities must be approved of by mods. We are putting this in place because we want topics to be well-structured and easily accessible to those reading about the subject of the thread for the first time. This is already in place for people making their first post on the website, but we’ve noticed that some other topics even by people who have posted before are not very well structured and not informative. Also, you must be willing to update the first post of the thread from time to time if anything new happens.
All threads posted in this forum will be looked at by moderators and then moved to their appropriate sections. Thanks so much!
*Please note; the New Topic Approval sub-forum is not visible to non-users and brand new users. It will become visible when your account has reached 5 approved comment posts.
Criteria for Making a Thread on Someone
You must know who they are and be able to list their social mediaNo "Who is this" posts- can ask here insteadThread subject must have over 10,000 followers on any one social media account (on Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Twitch…)This is to prevent against vendetta, self-posting and creating a "personal army"Thread subject must be at least 18 years oldYou must supply links to all of their social mediaMust include relevant tags. Please choose tags from this list.Summary of the person (History online, relevant information)Thread subject MUST have a history of online drama - scamming, fraud, excessive lies, misrepresentation of appearance or character, denial of obvious photoshopping, feuds, etc.NO threads "to see if there's anything interesting" or to see if there is drama to start with. You must post evidence of snowflakery (eg. Photoshopping, scamming, etc.)It is YOUR responsibility when making a thread to supply enough material so that any user opening the thread can follow the drama without any prior knowledge of the thread subject.Must be in an easily readable format.Bullet points and spoilers are your friend, especially if listing many pictures.Spoiler images that are nsfw in natureCannot be your first post, and your account must be in good standing.Must have had an account for a weekMust have at least 5 postsMust have a reputation of at least 25No exceptions. Please keep in mind that the person you are making this topic on will probably see it at some point. Topics should be made for a reason, not just to "see if there's any drama about this person." If they have a smaller following, check a group discussion instead of starting an entire topic about them first. Examples of How Topics Should Look:
Snowflake Topics: Example 1 // Example 2 // Example 3Online Personality Topics: Example 1 // Example 2 // Example 3Group Discussion Examples: Example 1 // Example 2 // Example 3If your post is not moved within 48 hours to online personalities, there is most likely something wrong with it. Please check over the list to make sure you have filled out all the requirements listed here. Points highlighted in red are hard requirements and posts will be unequivocally declined if one doesn't fulfill these requirements.

Nyx added a topic in News & AnnouncementsPULL RulesHello everyone! Here are the new rules. Enjoy:
1. Minimum age for users is 18.
2. Minimum age for snowflakes and other Internet personalities is 18. Do not post threads about people 17 and under.
3. No gore of any kind. No CP. Nudity is ok, but spoiler it.
4. This is an English-speaking website. If you want to communicate in a foreign language as well, please always accompany your post with a complete English translation.
5. No self-promotion or excessive self-posting.
a. Do not put links to your social media sites in your profile / signature. Exchange them over PM if you want.
b. Do not put photos of yourself in your avatar or signature. Don’t post photos of yourself in threads about other people.
c. Don’t compare yourself to other snowflakes (e.g. “wow her eyebrows are bad, at least mine aren’t that bad”, “good thing I take care of myself unlike her”).
d. Don’t interject threads with personal stories or remarks unless they are directly relevant to the discussion and contribute something of value (e.g. “I used to work in X industry and can confirm that …” is okay; “my brother tried to do that too now he’s in jail for …” is not okay).
e. Do not make a thread about yourself. If you do, you will be banned permanently and publicly shamed.
f. You may post pictures of yourself in the beauty / fashion forum if you have specific questions or are looking for advice.
6. No vendettas (towards snowflakes or other members).
7. No derailing.
a. Excessive personal interjections and personal stories, unless in a general thread, are not allowed.
b. Be polite. Debate about a snowflake is encouraged, attacking another user is not ok. You can disagree with or criticize what other users say, but do not attack others.
8. Except for the off-topic discussion boards, do not bring up general controversial issues in threads.
a. Don’t talk about politics, religion, race, or social issues except in the off-topic boards. These just derail threads.
9. No reputation / vote manipulation.
a. Do not downvote people because you dislike them.
b. Do not manipulate votes. If you do this, it will be obvious and you will be permanently banned.
c. Do not complain about being downvoted. If you believe someone is engaging in vote manipulation against you, contact staff privately and we will look into it. Otherwise, just accept your downvotes.
10. Personal info:
a. Is allowed. You may post full names of snowflakes over 18.
b. Everything is fair game, aside from addresses, phone numbers, and personal information of uninvolved parties, such as family and friends.
11. You may speculate about a snowflake’s potential psychiatric disorders. However, if you do, please don’t throw around random illnesses. Give some supporting information.
a. Don’t act like an authority on mental illness.
b. Don’t say something like “I have X disorder and Y definitely must have it too.” Don’t talk about your own issues in threads about other people.
c. You can say things like “given all of these [whatever], she seems like she has BPD/NPD”.
12. Don’t contact snowflakes, their friends, or their family in any form.
13. Don’t spam.
a. If you see spam posts, REPORT them. Don’t reply to the spammer.
b. Don't make duplicate threads. Before making a new topic, use the "search" function to see if a similar thread already exists.
14. Don’t troll.
a. Being intolerant of other opinions is not acceptable. It is okay to debate, not to argue.
b. Do not make personal attacks against other members. We are a family. If you do this, you will no longer be welcome here.
c. Do not cause drama for the sake of upsetting other members.
d. Do not come to the board just to tell us we’re all terrible. Making a post like “YOU’RE ALL MEAN LEAVE THIS GIRL ALONE” will get you automatically banned.
e. Do not white knight.
15. Do not make multiple accounts, especially to evade bans.
a. Having multiple accounts can look suspicious to mods.
b. If you want your account name changed, message @Nyx.
c. If you want to appeal your ban, message @Nyx.
d. When in doubt, message @Nyx. Don’t be shy.
16. Do report. Do not make frivolous reports (such as "I don't like this person"). Frivolous reports will result in a warning and possible ban.
a. When reporting, please give a reason. Reports citing what rule the post is breaking and giving some information are way more valuable and will get the issue resolved faster. (Reports with no explanations sometimes require mods to go through and skim the entire thread to find out what's going on. Please save us time if you can).
b. Don’t waste the mods’ time. Report people for breaking the rules, otherwise don’t report.
17. Do not post that you’re leaving. If you don’t want to be here, just leave. If you make a post saying that you are leaving, you will be banned permanently.
a. Feel free to constructively criticize the site or staff, or offer suggestions for improvement. Don’t just say “this place sucks I’m not coming back”. No one cares.
18. Your username cannot be the same as a snowflake’s name (unless you are that snowflake).
a. Don’t try to impersonate snowflakes or other people (excluding obvious sarcasm).
19. Do not intentionally lie about people you are posting about.
a. Don’t fake screenshots, quotes, or other evidence.
b. If you are unsure whether or not something is true, don’t claim it as absolute fact.
c. Don’t accuse people of anything serious without evidence to back it up.
20. Don’t necro threads that have been inactive for over a month unless you are providing new and relevant content.
21. Please follow thread guidelines when making a new thread.
a. If it does not live up to these standards, the thread will not be moved to Online Personalities. If in doubt, check the guidelines.
b. All other rules listed here apply.
22. Warnings and bans are issued at the discretion of the moderation team. Most transgressions will result in a warning, more serious violations will result in permanent bans. If you’d like to appeal a ban, please message @Nyx.
Rules are subject to change without notice.
Fair Use Statement:
Fair use refers to the right to reproduce, use and share copyrighted works of cultural production without direct permission from or payment to the original copyright holders. It is a designation that is assigned to projects that use copyrighted materials for purposes that include research, criticism, news reporting and teaching. When a project is protected under fair use provisions, the producers of that project are not subject to sanctions related to copyright infringement. The maintenance of fair use protections is central to many non-profit and education projects, especially those that operate in digital and online spaces.
This website may contain copyrighted material, the use of which has not been specifically authorized by the copyright holders. The material is made available on this website as a way to advance research and teaching related to critical media literacy and intercultural understanding, among other salient political and social issues. Through context, critical questioning, and educational framing, the Critical Media Project, therefore, creates a transformative use of copyrighted media. The material is presented for entirely non-profit educational purposes. There is no reason to believe that the featured media clips will in any way negatively affect the market value of the copyrighted works. For these reasons, we believe that the website is clearly covered under current fair use copyright laws.
We do not support any actions in which the materials on this site are used for purposes that extend beyond fair use.

For additional information in support of fair use, see “The Code of Best Practices in Fair Use for Media Literacy Education” from American University’s Center for Social Media Imact.
