Not as far as I know. Just sounds like a couple of people are feeling a bit salty today. Frankly, I don't think Manaki was taken advantage of unknowingly. The whole situation was complicated. It was Margo's idea for Venus to marry Manaki for the visa... until she found out it didn't include her. Then she was all about breaking them up. From the messages that Margo showed, it appeared that when she approached Manaki about marriage with Venus, he questioned marrying her so young and that Venus should be included in the discussion. In any case, it appears that Manaki and Venus do have feelings for each other even though they may not have had the ideal start to their relationship. He has stood by her through her troubles with her mother and her own personal issues. I don't think he would have put up with all that if he was not really invested in the relationship.
I find her comment in the description interesting also: It is sad that she has had to cope, or try to cope, with her depression and anxiety for a long time. I don't know if her life growing up caused it, but it certainly didn't help. I am glad, though, that she is taking steps to take care of herself and is making good progress.
Since she has a manager for this and it's linked to a website called Winks... I assume she is getting paid to do these videos. I am not familiar with this virtual youtuber genre. Is this a popular thing in Japan? In other news. Mana put out a couple of videos recently with Venus doing the voice over on one and another where they play with a eraser kit.
Interesting concept that a couple have to be financial equals or else they can't really be in love and shouldn't get married. Not saying the idea is wrong or right, just reminds me of Regency novels where social parity and/or financial wealth was important when considering marriage. Had no idea that the same values were still in place. LOL. I guess that means Taylor is a mercenary gold digger and Tom wanted a trophy wife. They couldn't possibly have, you know, real feelings for each other.
I lean towards her surgery being botched. It was a unconventional surgery, unlike any current procedures. I have heard of someone bursting stitches, but it is rare and difficult to do with a properly done surgery as it would be extremely uncomfortable - even painful - to eat enough food to put that much pressure on the staples. It was more common with the old style stomach stapling, which her surgery kind of sounds like, where the staples would come loose over time.
I don't know that it is really fair to call Venus' fans "drones" and "dogs." There are all kinds of people in the world with differing interests. She may not be relatable to me or others, but obviously there is a demographic that do find her relatable and appealing. I wouldn't discount them as worthless because they have interests that differ from mine. With Venus, there are her videos of various content (I personally enjoy the cooking and travel ones as I relate to those) and then there is the overarching storyline of her life. This video goes more into that category. It appears that she is having some ups and downs and this last one seems to be her on a more of a down day. There is something therapeutic about expressing your feelings and others responding... even if it those responses appear to be "mindless."
5'5" - 5'6" - 5'7" .... It really doesn't matter in Japan. That is all tall for the Japanese, I don't think shaving an inch or two is going to make a difference. Frankly, in any country, I don't think anyone is going to look at those heights and think that Venus is short and petite.
Love is not static. I know people who were high school sweethearts who are still together and in love 20 years later. I know people who lived together for 10 years, finally got married and then broke up and divorced a year or two later. I knew a Japanese woman who met her American husband in Japan in the 1950's. When they got married they could barely talk to each other since at that time she knew very little English and he knew no Japanese. They spent the rest of their lives together. Her brothers were in arranged marriages and those marriages were strong. She had sisters who married for love and they had much more trouble with their relationships. Love and marriage takes work and needs to be nurtured... by both parties. As long as Venus and Manaki work together on strengthening their relationship, then their love will grow stronger.
I think Venus and Manaki's relationship was a little more complicated than just being a green card marriage. In the beginning, as far as Margo was concerned, it was meant to be a green card marriage. However, it seems that Venus and Manaki did have feelings for each other... but the marriage part was fast-tracked by Margo. When Margo realized that the marriage wasn't going to benefit her personally she tried to stop it, but Venus and Manaki managed to get married anyways. Afterwards Margo threatened Venus and tried to sabotage the marriage, insisting that they divorce. The situation became intolerable and finally Venus left to join Manaki. So, my perception is that the marriage was a form of escape, but that they did have affection for each other – which they seemed to have built up to be a true relationship. As far as not showing a lot of affection publicly towards Manaki, one has to remember that public displays of affection are not encouraged in Japan. Most likely Manaki does not feel comfortable showing that on video and Venus is probably respecting that.
Venus is answering a bunch of questions on Instagram stories. Didn't try to cap any. What I did come away with is that her and Mana are still together, love each other, and he is very understanding. She is not into DDLG. She is happy to be 100% European and doesn't wish she was Asian. She seems to be feeling better.
She could be experiencing some post-surgery depression. Anesthesia can sometimes mess with your head. If this is the first time she has had surgery, or anytime for that matter, it can be quite traumatizing for some people. Everyone is different on how fast they recover. Some people bounce right back from surgery and others take quite a bit of time to get back up to speed.
She is still with Manaki. They went to Sweden together. In the Q&A video she described how she met Manaki and that it was love at first sight. No hint that they were on the outs or anything like that. In the picture on Instagram of her in Akihabara someone asked "please make a video about leaving manaki! are you really leaving him?????" and Venus replied, "what!? Nooo!!! 😱". I think their relationship is just fine.
