We've heard you loud and clear - negative reputation is back. Remember that it's still against the rules to complain about being downvoted - if you think someone's mass-downvoting posts or otherwise abusing the reputation system, DM a mod and we will take care of it.
We need to make a distinction between social anxiety disorder (phobia) and social anxiety (emotion of nervousness in social situations). 90% of individuals reports having feeling social anxiety at some point of their lives. For all that, the majority of them does not and will not suffer from social anxiety disorder. Social anxiety is only one symptom among many others that constitute social anxiety disorder. Being very shy (or being very anxious btw) is hard but not an illness, thankfully. I'm not trying to minimize people' struggle at all but everyone pull out the mental illness card too easily these days. Let's get back to Venus please.
I think people don't understand the difference between social anxiety and being not good with people/attention and as a person who lost all her 20's because of the first, IT'S PISSING ME OFF SO MUCH!!! Don't make a handicap your new personnality trait. People who's suffering from it attempt suicide. People who's suffering from it are ashamed and don't claim everywhere they have a problem, believe me. In Venus'case, I think she just hadn't learn the etiquette to be functional in society. That's quite something else.
YES. It's particularly annoying when you actually do suffer from anxiety. You're anxious because of something that would make anyone nervous? Bitch try to spend your night vomiting and shitting yourself because of nothing. Watch all your life being ruined by your stress and we will talk about it. This "trend" of trying to diagnosing yourself with mental illness needs to end. Yes, mental illness is not a taboo like it was before, but it is not something casual and certainly not something you can use to feel special. It's an insult for every single who struggle with it.
