Her videos are good for background noise when you are working on smt else. Even at 1.5x speed, I still felt like she as dragging this latest video way too much. Her rather slow speech is even more apparent when she plays the tutorial video right before she speaks. Her jokes often fall flat, they are more cringy than funny. Her content has become way to repetitive and predictable. She hardly brings anything new to her formula to make things more interesing. Other than better audio, video quality and longer lenghts, her videos from 2 or 3 years ago feel almost the same to the latest video. Her formula is great for (at most) 15min videos, but feel dragged out when you double that time. The only video I actually remember and enjoyed watching the whole way throught ever since she started making this super long videos was Tyler's proprosal, and that video was 12-13min long. The only good thing I can say is at least she learned from her previous mistakes when making soap, even if the techniques are different.
Either she couldn't take the backlash or didn't want to apologize, because at no point she though she was in the wrong, and plans to reappear once this drama dies down. Considering how she acts on twitter, I bet it is the latter. She stills acts as if she did nothing wrong.
Yeah, context matter. One group I like got tons of hate for a 'out of context edited video', so even if I don't like BP/Jennie as much, I wouldn't want the same unjustified hate towards them/her. That said, this gif is really hard to watch, makes me feel really bad for Jisoo and Rosé.
I think @cyanparade should be one of those artists that have 2 accounts, one for art, where she has to be more professional but still keep some interaction with her fans, and one for personal use. One day, her "hot takes" and her arguments can lead to her losing an important job oportunity, if she hasn't lost one o two already. I'm not saying her account should be as soulless as Sakimichan's, but @cyanparade does need to tone down with how often she posts her opinions, personal life and how often she gets into arguments. She may not be as problematic as some other artists discussed here and her art is amazing, but I can def see her getting into big trouble if she keeps on going like that.
She has been called out on lolcow's "Artist salt" multiple times, that thread has so much evidence against her, but somehow her white knights are in more denial than Sakimichan's. Here are some proof others compiled over the last 6-7 months
Lately, she has been uploading some speedpaintings to her yt channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXMuCL5HrC8niw0jtT8YnUw EDIT: So, as soon as I posted my reply I saw this, looks like one of the artist she traced from is now aware of this situation and they aren't happy about it
The drawing you used to show Celia's is also from Alma. This one is Celia's more recent eye style:
Colors: while I disagree with Alma, I can see some similarities. Still, doesn't make her the owner of pastel pink, blue and purple (with some yellow) color combo. Eye Style: That's reaching. I've seen many anime/kawaii artists draw the eyes in a similar way. Both Alma's and Celia's eye have their similarities, but, especially now I think they are different enough from each other that accusing Celia of being a copycat is just immature. Celia's older artwork did look very similar to Alma's in some aspects, but now, Alma made look like she just wanted some drama with accounts that have little to no fighting power.
Not only her ilustrations are lifeless, all her social media posts feel like she is a souless and faceless corporation rather than a person. She is definitely emontionly detached from her work. Everything about her screams "I don't enjoy what I draw, but it pays well, even if it is rushed and half assed, so why bother?".
Is @__0111___ serious?? That's very immature and entitled of their part. It is not like they invented this pink/purple/blue color combo, I've seen this palette in many "color palette chalenges" and many artists have been using very similar colors for a very long time. I can only feel bad for @centip3des and @celia._.uwu. It doesn't help that Alma started a witch hunt towards much smaller IGs and outright lied to her audience about Kace not apologizing and not acknowledging the similarities. Also, I know everyone is diferent, and I don't know them personaly nor how their life is going, but saying your life is ruined bc someone uses a similar color palette to yours in the middle of a fucking pandemic, I think they really need to check their priorities. Was Alma really expecting that @centip3des could completely change everything about her style in just a week? She really needs to chill about it. Neither styles are "unique". I'm pretty sure Alma also had their fair share of inspirations to get to the style they have now. If it was someone like meyoco (or anyone of her inspirations), who has like 10x of Alma's following, I'm pretty sure @__0111___ would be all like "I'm so honoured senpai noticed me! uwu" even if they openly adimited they "stole" Alma's "style".
I don't really have a problem with her not being energetic during rehearsals, most senior groups probably don't bother giving 100% during rehearsals (either they are too tired or just know it is not worth spend too much energy at that moment), but Jennie's live performance, like the Japan tour, don't look much different from this rehearsal, and that's where the problem lies.
This reads more like a witch hunt and someone being butt hurt with Sakimichan's success than anything else. Sure, she uses 3D models sometimes, there was a genderbend Maleficent progress pics some pages ago for instance, but using 3D models isn't that uncommon nor it is wrong per say, unless it is an idol Noctis or Tseng situation. In a professional enviroment, it is somewhat commun use 3D models to create drawings a lot faster (like enviroments or really trick poses/perspectives). As long as you rely on it as reference or last resort, like when there's a super short and strict deadline, using 3D models can help you become a better artist. Plus, while her progress/voice over videos do skip some of the more important steps (suddenly we have a fully detailed, properly rendered face) they do show that she is able to draw by herself, without tracing over a 3D model. If she does use one, it is usually a rather plain looking, that doesn't have any defining features, like clothes and hair. In this thread, we have a bigger problem with her: not delievering her KS books, always drawing minors, making all characters look the same, not taking a break to rethink what she wants to do as an artist, only interacting with her highest paying patreons while gosthing lower tiers, using copyrighted 3D models on her ilustrations for profit, big regression with anatomy, and so on. And I still don't understand what that "her being asian" argument was talking about. Unlike a model, an actor or even a youtuber in some cases, an artist could go their whole carrers without showing their faces or revealing their real names and still be successful. Her being asian has almost nothing to do with her success. If her face and real name wasn't in the 1st page of this thread, I wouldn't even know her race, nor do I care.
Looks like a very young kid who just doesn't understand the difference between reference and tracing. I don't think she has almost 900 followers bc of her art, she isn't fooling anyone older than 13 (even 13 is a streach). She is probably just using the same old Instagram tactics to gain followers and likes (I really hope she isn't buying followers/likes). I was like her when I was, gee, 10 at max, t(hough I was smart enough to not post it online) tracing from bases and other drawings. I just hope that she can learn that what she is doing is wrong and it isn't "recreating". This may be working as a quick way to gain attention "for her art and IG" right now but, as an artist, it will only hurt her in the long run.
I guess it is a case of Lisa being more well known. It is similar when people accuse a group of plagirising/copying another group when they don't really have much control over it. It is much easier to blame the group, who are more well known to the general public, than the company, choreographer/composer for making something a little bit too similar to something else.
This has been discussed in this thread but the TL;DR version is either she is half assing, reusing her old drawings and some 3D assets to create new ones (eg: Noctis hair being photoshoped from his actual 3D model), which could explain some of her blurried faces, or she has a decent sized team behind her, which could explain how she doesn't get burnt out and how she has time to draw so much, go through all the "negative" comments and delete them, make tutorial terms, etc. Both are also an option. These are theories but once you put the pieces together, it does a lot make sense. We can't be 100% sure on the "team theory", we only know she has/had a team that goes to cons for her (which, as an introvert, I can see why she would do this, though it sucks for her fans who really wanted to meet her), but, if she can afford this, she could afford having a team that helps her make illustrations faster.
