Oh damn, look at the amount of lying on her original GoFundMe to go to Japan

"I began studying Japanese as my third language in order to gain a perspective of cultures unlike my own. I was raised in a traditional Mexican household in Southern California where Japanese culture was never introduced. While already being fluent in English and Spanish, I mastered Hiragana and Katakana in a matter of two weeks. Then, I paved my way towards understanding Kanji and the grammatical structure of the Japanese language.

As a Black woman, I understand that I will face many challenges in an Asian country where the color of my skin is not widely seen nor appreciated. It may seem incredibly gutsy to go to a foreign country at age 18 to earn a degree, but I am dedicated to generating change on a global scale and feel I have the potential to do so.

I was a research intern for the WorldLink program at the University of San Diego’s Joan B. Kroc School Institute For Peace and Justice. For over three months, I contributed to the extensive research on the gender spectrum, the importance of leadership and participation, the magnitude of gender-based violence, the value of sustainable development, and the priority of peace and security.

I was given the opportunity to speak to over 700 high school students from San Diego and Mexico. As an opening speaker, I discussed global affairs and international concerns and issues with these students.

My independent path has prepared me for a vigorous college life. I believe I can achieve my future goals, which are to have a career in Foreign Service and to promote international awareness among people of all backgrounds. My studies in Japan will provide me with tools to be successful in this ambition.

I hope you will support my aim of generating change on a global scale. Your contributions towards this goal are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!"
Somebody should make a side by side comparison with her tweets lol

Honestly I think it's more true for Korea than Japan. Groceries might be a little higher priced but they can take you a long way if you don't eat something entirely different everyday. You can easily live off of 50 dollars in two weeks if you cook yourself compared to the regular 10 dollars you might spend  a day eating out alone or with a friend. Kyoto and Shizuoka shouldn't be that different in terms of pricing.

she's barely been in Japan for a year, has no Japanese friends, barely interacts with the culture etc. What the fuck is this book supposed to be about if not self praise

With how liberally she's using the term I highly doubt she's ever been called that and is in the position to reclaim it as a RECENTLY self proclaimed pansexual person

You think Bri cares about poor people enough to donate her YouTube income to charity? Doubt it lol

Bri just might be in a language program and taking basic (BASIC) law classes in English. Private Universities can afford those. If she's there for the full ride I wouldn't be surprised if her Japanese is shit right now. I think N2-N1 are definite requirements if you sign up as a regular student or go for master courses. If you look up her tutoring offers she's free the majority of the week so I doubt she's anything but a regular exchange student.
if anything the worst mistake you can make while learning Japanese in Japan is only hanging around people who understand English. It's gonna take her forever to even get past N4.

making and keeping up with friends in Japan requires a lot of initiative confidence and effort which I doubt she has outside of the internet. her type is usually only surrounded by foreign friends here

adding to the fact that it's more like she's shoving her western ideals down everyone's throats with her form of presentation, it doesn't make sense to support a movement when the people in the country don't need it

I spend between 3000-4000 yen weekly for 10 days worth of groceries whereas ONE McD meal a day (not delivered since that requires about 1500ish minimum) would cost me 5000 yen for 7 days...lazy people like the op of that tweet make me so angry pretending poor people are better off not cooking lol just learn how to plan budget and invest and you could easily feed yourself and others just admit you hate to cook ...nothing classist about that lol
