We've heard you loud and clear - negative reputation is back. Remember that it's still against the rules to complain about being downvoted - if you think someone's mass-downvoting posts or otherwise abusing the reputation system, DM a mod and we will take care of it.
I've been enjoying The Black Experience Japan - the host Ranzo talks to black people in Japan (and now Korea) about their experiences. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM9uvq7NiMDmqZnaepEvc0A/videos It is very interesting and experience is truly unique ranging from military wives to people born in Japan. I particularly liked hearing from the Jamaican Architect whose Japanese was so good that she interviewed in Japanese and was placed in a Japanese team in the firm (rather than an international team which would work in English). The latest video was an interview with an author which I thought I was going to bail out on because it was so long but I honestly didn't notice the time. He's interviewed the author of a book about Yasuke, the African Samurai (the guy lived like 500 years ago). The only other Jvloggers I follow are Only in Japan (his live streaming channel as well), Tabieats and Loretta's channels. I dropped the rest of them including Chris and Sharla the pair of them were just so unprofessional with their uploading and communication not to mention boring content in one case.
No he's got just under 9 thousand subscribers, the projections are he'll reach 10 thousand in two years. He's managed to lose 100 subscribers in the last 30 days, despite taking part in vlogmas, must be very dishartening for a creator. Sharla is in his vlogmas day 22 video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ykc-MqHz2PA
I took her comments at face value, she is starting from scratch - she has no stuff and needs to buy it. Is it easier for her than other people? Yes but that doesn't change that she's starting from scratch in Toronto. I don't think she implied she was poor and had to wait to buy things.
That whole Greg is gay thing was weird because I don't think he confirmed or denied. His big secret was being a virgin, he'd been offered loads of sex but wanted to be in love and have an actual relationship or whatever. Sexual stereotypes about black men are the worst. However as he never specified gender of who he was trying to date or was just wanting his body I leant towards him being gay. Before that I thought he might have a thing for Sharla. I'm really confused about the whole thing but its his business. Sharla was helping Greg with his videos and they've been getting shorter since then (not always) but there are a fair few under 15 minutes. I still watch (sometimes with the fast forward button) becauase he is sharing more of his experience of a new country and showing more of Korea than Sharla. Yeah I judged Sharla for not sticking up for Greg with Norm. It really made me question her and the image she's constructed for her channel.
Going by what Greg was saying in his livestream, she's been away for 2 months and most of her work in Japan. I'm not at all sure of what to make of this. She posted a vid 2 days ago and then prior to that it was 2 months ago. What has she been doing that she isn't uploading videos? Earlier this year the irregular upload schedule didn't really bother me but the way she / Abroad in Japan and Tokio Creative have trailed this Journey Across Japan I thought we were going to get regular uploads. I really can't work out what Tokio Creative's gameplan is with all of this. The whole things just seems so unprofessional and cobbled together. 4 days ago Taylor uploads another pic with her new hubbie and all of a sudden Sharla uploads a pic talking about missing her. Colour me cynical.
Almost as if they knew we were talking about them. Here comes episode 15 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GM_vGjtFu2E According to the pinned comment he's been editing for the past week so that he can release 4 videos over the course of 10 days.
Yes. A number of youtubers have done hitchhiking. It seems pretty safe in Japan. I don't know if I would do it as a girl. If anyone is interested in Only in Japan's trip last year from Kyushu to Hokkaido. It was a follow up on a trip he had done 14 years previously. I'm curious as to what Tokyo Creative are doing or have done. They didn't get him any sponsorship which seems like a huge missed opportunity. What do those two other guys do? Chris said they were helping him but in some of the videos he talked about how he had a lot of editing to do. I'd have cut Chris slack if he was by himself but there's the team. It's unprofessional given than an Agency is supposed to be overseeing this all. How does Tokyo Creative make money? If they allow their acts to post sporadically surely the youtube algorithms will get messed up and they will start to earn less?
Is it just me or has Abroad in Japan's cycle across Japan been something of a let down? There's a whole team of them but they don't seem to have a consistent posting schedule . The vids that are posted feel somewhat contrived, with silly skits more often than not and you don't learn much about where they are. I'll withold judgement until the end but so far I prefer Only in Japan's spontaneous style of live streaming as he hitchhiked across Japan.
I thought it was a lovely wedding and it's clearly what the two of them wanted. So many people get so wrapped up in the trappings of a wedding and spend tens of thousands of dollars on something, forgetting what is really important. I think they do meet the definition of an elopement - instead of doing the big thing they've slipped away and got married. Modern technology allows them to stream the ceremony to family members who were around. I will forever remember Taylor and her "Dad are you naked? Dad are you naked?" Then his unrepentant "Well you said come as you are," with the camera panning back to show him lying in bed.
Probably because the vids get views and that's what the die hard fans are constantly asking them about. It doesn't take a lot of work to do those types of vids. Expanding away from that would take time and effort with no guarantees of success.
I think you're being naive. People date and are attracted to each other for all sorts of reasons. What matters at the end of the day is that they are honest with each other. There is nothing wrong with dating a guy because of his wealth, how many guys start dating girls or only look at girls who society deems to be attractive? I think as a starting point it's fine but if you don't get know and love that person for them then you have a very shallow relationship and ultimately it won't survive.
I'm a native speaker and I have trouble listening to LaLa. She's a legend in her own mind. I suspect she was different when she wasn't on youtube but it's all gone to her head. She think's she's a STAR and should be treated at that level. Her unhappiness in the US is probably down to her STAR status not being seen in the US and not receiving the opportunities she got in Korea. However she fails to realise that she only got those opportunities because she was foreign and attractive. She has nothing else to recommend her. I don't why I'm so surprised that she was in Korea two years and can barely speak the language.
