I was rewatching the Ross-Rachel-Mark-Break fiasco and I just have to go off cause that storyline gives me feelings. Where Ross was wrong: He was insanely jealous of Mark and was very possessive of Rachel to the point that it's hard to watch. He insisted that he go with her to the fashion lecture yet fell asleep through the whole thing. The scene where he showed up at her job when she was clearly busy with a picnic was especially grating. Couldn't Ross have just waited until Rachel got home? Or couldn't they have just rescheduled? It's not like Rachel could just ditch work to go have dinner with her boyfriend. She just started a very demanding job that she really liked and was on the lowest end of the totem pole. She could get fired easily, especially given how her boyfriend started a fire in her workplace. He just had to show up there just to make sure she wasn't with Mark even though he left for another company! Granted Mark did have feelings for Rachel but that didn't mean she was going to ditch Ross for him. Where Rachel was wrong: She was the one who wanted the break. She confirmed many times that she and Ross have broken up which means Ross didn't cheat on her. I get how she feels, Ross sleeping with another woman only a few hours after their breakup would make their relationship feel like nothing, but there was no relationship. She had already ended it so she can't pull off the "he slept with another woman" and the "he cheated on me" card. Then there was letting Mark, the guy Ross was jealous about, come over to her apartment at night. When Ross calls her to try and make things right again, Mark(purposely) says something and then Rachel lies to Ross about Mark not being here. So it was both of their faults and if it wasn't the break that ruined their relationship it would have been something later down the line.
Honestly despite the complaints I have with the characters, I still love the majority of them to death(except for Morgana he can go choke and Kasumi I still have very mixed opinions on but they're mostly negative). People who call Akechi a crappy twist character don't seem to get that Akechi being the traitor wasn't the twist. If they paid attention to what the characters said about the metaverse then it's pretty obvious. The twist was that the thieves knew what the players knew the whole time. In Royal Akechi gets a real social link. I disliked this at first because I thought their natural progression was better, but the reworked confidant is pretty nice. Also tip for Royal. Make sure to get Maruki to rank 9 before November 18. You have to in order to play the third semester. I've seen people say they didn't know they were supposed to that and ended up missing it.
I think the whole character inconsistency is a general problem with the thieves as none of them develop outside their social link with Joker. All the PTs are practically the same people from the beginning to the end and any conflict they had in the main story disappeared completely after their arc. Example Futaba's difficulty dealing with people seemed to end completely after the beach scene. Ann's guilt over what happened to Shiho completely disappeared after Kamoshida. Basically character arcs resolve themselves in no time unless you do their socials links. Then none of the development from the social links ever carries on to the main story. Since you mentioned your dislike Futaba, I have to admit I do find her Mary Sueish. Come on a 15 year old girl with such advanced hacking capabilities that she surpasses every professional? I don't know if you played Royal but I also find Kasumi to be a Mary Sue. Joker acts OOC when he's around her and I don't like it. Joker is pretty snarky towards everyone including the girls, but with Kasumi he's so sickeningly sweet and supportive. No snark. He is also pretty vocal about his support for the phantom thieves, even voicing his support for them on a TV set in front of many people. However when Kasumi mentions her dislike for them he just lets it slide? Doesn't even try and debate that they're good people.
I don't understand how people call Makoto a forced love interest. There's like only three scenes in the game where I would call it shippy; -When she gets scared of the dark and clings to Akiren. -When Akiren saves her in Futaba's palace. -And when Kaneshiro asks if her boyfriend's on the phone. Yeah there's Eiko-chan's confidant where you pretend to Makoto's boyfriend, but social links are only optional and you do that in Ohya's social link too. And this is coming from someone who doesn't think Makoto is best girl. If anything I say the vanilla P5 pushes Ann more cause they make it clear as day that Akiren is attracted to her, while Royal pushes Kasumi.
-I don't like Nameless. It felt so slow and the only guy I liked was Yuri. I always hated the fanclub trope so naturally I hated the whole "Hot5" thing. -Ozmafia is a dumpster fire but its my dumpster fire. -I hate hate hate hate "true routes." It makes all the other relationships the MC had with the other guys feel invalid and it's even worse if you don't like the "true guy." -Fuka >>>>>>>>>>> Dead Fish Chan
