We've heard you loud and clear - negative reputation is back. Remember that it's still against the rules to complain about being downvoted - if you think someone's mass-downvoting posts or otherwise abusing the reputation system, DM a mod and we will take care of it.
If you want to talk about it, you can do that. No need to be passive agressive about it. Do you mean the vid of a guy breathing out a white cloud? Do you have a screencap of her saying it's her boyfriend? Because now it just says: margaretpalermoIsn't he the cutest? #sexiestmanalive #cutest #hotjapaneseguy #snow And he doesn't look like the other dude she posted. Edit: on second thought, I'm probably just thrown off by the filters… On the other pic, the dude was more tanned.
I agree with making the report button more obvious. Maybe put it near the voting buttons so people are reminded of the option to report before downvoting. Or even do both at the same time. To me it's more like people going to the beach for entertainment and start to complain about sand getting up in their cracks. Of course there are some assholes who think it's hilarious to throw sand in people's faces, but those are in the minority and can be banned if people bother to report.
If you put your opinion out there, you're gonna be criticized; it's no different from real life. Everyone has their own view on things and not everyone's gonna agree with eachother and that's ok. If people are afraid of being downvoted, then they should either get a tougher skin or stay in their little bubble. It gets tiring to read people say "this is probably gonna get downvoted, but…". Who cares? It's not like you're gonna lose your job over it. Your idea of sorting posts by upvotes might work in theory, but I've seen silly/lame/salty jokes (like memes about flakes and such) getting more upvotes than some of the (imho) better posts. Also, some people seem to be handing them out like candy and then start to complain about how they need more rep points.
The forum could be a bit more gender neutral. I use the bannerless theme because the default one is too "girly" for me. Overall, I basically agree with the suggestions made. Especially the ones about reorganizing the subforums and removing the redundant threads. With new members making threads everywhere, it can get rather annoying to browse around. To add a suggestion regarding new threads: on 1.0 members had to have a certain amount of (non-spam) posts before they could start a thread. Maybe that could be reintroduced? OT:
