Meet Mariah Mallad aka Momokun! She's a cosplayer from Las Vegas who has caused quite a stir lately. Originally not-so-popular, she was mysteriously posted on /cgl/ one day without any context. (Warning: these threads have NSFW photos!)
    thread 1 // thread 2 // thread 3
Mariah was quick to show up to defend herself after supposedly being alerted by fans that she was posted on cgl, posting her Patreon link multiple times and discussing the perks of donating to her while doing so.
In the first thread, she also says that her super religious family disapproves of her lingerie/boudoir shoots.
After a couple weeks of silence, she got posted on lolcow by an unknown poster. At first, she was suspected of self-posting but the possibility of it being posted by another cosplayer arose and Mariah was mostly free of suspicion!  However, she did show up in the lolcow thread defending herself (again) and brought her white knight army with her this time. Some great quotes from the thread/screencaps posted in the thread include:
"If you don't like me because I am very popular for my cosplays then that's sad and pathetic on your part."
"That cheap spandex suit has gotten me more attention then you'll ever get, featured on IGN, and Arda Wigs, and got me connections with Funimation…. "
    Screenshots under the cut:
In her old Deviantart journal, she says so herself that she's trying to become cosplay famous yet denies that currently.

Gofundmes (like the ones she used to do) are limiting. Once you hit the goal, you get paid out and you're supposed to use the money for what you said you'd use it for.
Patreon is far more open ended. You don't have to say that you used your money specifically for something. For example, she said she'd use her money from the Miso GFM to buy medication for Miso and that's where people expected the money to go to. On patreon, she doesn't need to declare exactly what she'd use her money for, meaning that she can pocket a portion of it and no one would ask.
On top of that, Gofundmes have goals and she can't set her goal at something like $1000 and she can't make GFMs super often, because then people will know she's scamming. Patreon will allow her to collect monthly payments without the problem of it being a one-time payment and that's it.
Right now, she's getting $54 a month so in 3 months time, she'll have more money than she got from the Miso GFM, and on top of that, she will continue collecting the $54 for each subsequent month.
tl;dr: It's basically steady payments until her patrons drop out, whereas GFM is a one-time deal.
This is gonna sound rude af, but I don't think she's a legit model? She's very short iirc (5', right?) and doesn't have the sexy look that luxury car companies look for.

My guess is that she's working at the booth, passing out pamphlets, telling people benefits of owning x car over y car, and the like instead of being an actual model. She probably threw the word "model" in there to sound important, but we'll see how it plays out.

It seems like she's stopped trying to be "asian"? Her new photo doesn't look shooped either except for her chin/jaw.

I don't think she's edited a lot tbh. Her jaw is definitely smaller but her skin is because of filters and her eyes are like that in the pictures from her mom's FB.

OT but there is no concrete evidence that MSG is bad for your health though. MSG is actually just a form of salt (the s in MSG stands for sodium) and is found in natural foods such as tomatoes.
Anyways to stay on topic... "omg my legs look long because of my mirror"

Eh it looks pretty healthy and I think this only covers 2 meals: her breakfast and dinner (the dishes are heavier so I'm assuming it's dinner). I'm sure she eats more than what's shown, but she only put whatever she got footage of in the video.
Ngl I was pretty shocked by how much oil her mom used to stir fry the vegetables, but I think it's just because I use very little oil when cooking.

I doubt culture barrier is part of the reason behind her act. I have many friends who are 1.5-gen (born in China, raised in the states) or 2nd gen Chinese whose ages range from your's to Yumi's, and none of them act like her at all.
They all act like, you know, normal people who view themselves as college/grad school students and adults who should be responsible for their own lives instead of hoping to be coddled forever.
Tbh I've never met anyone who wants to be treated like a 5-year-old as bad as Yumi does. It's creepy as fuck even as someone who used to watch her channel way back when she first started with those "how to transform a plain dress into a lolita dress" tutorials.

I don't want to sound like I'm bragging about where I live, but I live in an area with a lot of very rich people (an average house here is ~$3 million) and I can confirm as someone who works retail that they do spend a lot of money buying expensive clothes. Even if they're not buying expensive clothes, they're spending hundreds or thousands on shoes, bags, accessories, etc.
And like you said, these people aren't just buying ballgowns, they're buying casual wear. Where I work is considered "not that expensive" in the area and our dresses for CASUAL wear will still set you back $300-400. Our shoes range from $150-400 and our bags are $300-700. The cheapest items in our store are a $40 pair of earrings and a $48 bangle.
She's also not taking into consideration the difference in quality (which also factors into the price btw). A $300 tshirt dress from Allsaints is going to have thicker, sturdier material, sturdier construction, and be more comfortable to wear than a $15 tshirt dress from Forever 21. "Rich" people (really more like middle class and higher tbh) tend to buy nice rather than buy twice. Even middle schoolers in my area tend to buy one nice piece rather than a pile of cheap crap ffs.
    /end rant

I think she knows what "elegant" and "high class" mean, but her definition of "elegant" is very dodgy for sure. I'd use "elegant" to describe clothes like this or this, not her cheap Taobao haul crap.
And like @CloudFairFF7 said, elegance isn't just clothes, it's also poise and attitude. Gracefulness and graciousness play a large part in giving someone an air of elegance in addition to wearing nice clothes and having nice hair and makeup. Yumi's childish act is not elegant at all and tbh neither are her pigtails and makeup.
For example, Audrey Hepburn is widely considered the epitome of elegance . While she did wear a lot of gowns on set and even modeled Givenchy dresses, she's also well known for looking elegant even in just casual clothes.
inb4 Yumi sees this and just buys a bunch of Taobao replicas of things that Kate Middleton and Audrey Hepburn have worn.

there was a discussion 2-3 pages ago about not posting pictures of people's family. That's overstepping the boundaries and prying into their personal lives which isn't encouraged.

This is giving me a "teehee I'm so desirable and so many men like me but alas I already have a boyfriend" vibe. I mean getting hit on by random men totally happens but this is something you normally keep private and don't tell your followers who are strangers.

That's what I was thinking as well. It looks like a trailer, not like a house house if that makes any sense. I don't think her stepfather is that rich. The house she showed (the trailer-y one) is built on cheap rural land and the house itself isn't very large. If he was as rich as Yumi wants him to seem, he would've developed the land and built a bigger/nicer house. That would raise his property value as well.
Also her parents only own two houses, the one she showed and the one in Seattle/Seattle area. The Georgia house ("third house") that she mentioned is her boyfriend/sugar daddy's house.
It's time for bilibili comments part 3!
How to Look Like a Rich Girl (part 1):
note: in Chinese, it's called "How to Look Like a Pale Rich Girl". "Pale Rich Girl" being like a spoiled rich girl who doesn't have to do any work and thus has never tanned because she's never had to leave the house.

Ok now that I'm on desktop, here are some comments from the bilibili repost videos. These are more stylized translations from the original comments and won't be 100% direct translations (I'm trying to keep the tone of the original comment), so my translations will be different than if you plugged them into google translate.
I'm no expert at Chinese so if I make any mistakes, feel free to correct me! I also won't be translating comments that I'm not 100% sure what they're saying.

Lol at her mostly being worried that they're making money off of her videos and not talking much about whether her feelings are hurt and things like that. You can't even monetize videos on bilibili iirc.
I'll see if I can find any of the videos later (when I'm on a computer) and try to translate the comments for you guys.

"A friend told me today someone has been flagging all my videos", Yumi is the only person who can see if one of her videos has been flagged though. Unless her "friend" was logged into her account/email, they wouldn't be able to see that a video has been flagged.
And Youtube didn't hire new people at the beginning of the month to check flagged videos. They don't have a specific department dedicated to watching all the flagged videos lol.

Her English is actually pretty good. Someone on lolcow found her school blog and ironically she's done projects about the sexualization of Asian women.
I feel like this is proof that she's aware of what she's doing but continues to sexualize herself as an Asian woman for views.
