I haven’t heard of this girl before stumbling upon this thread but now I know more about her. I agree with many of you on how it’s sad that she’s so secretive of her Hmong background, but as a SEA girl I can understand why.
I said something similar in the thread for heyitsfeiii but I’ll say it again. East Asian cultures (in the United States at least) are usually seen as more trendy and cool than Southeast Asians ones. Southeast Asian cultures usually are ignored or pushed aside as inferior (which is definitely unjust). The popularity of entertainment forms like K-pop and anime has given East Asian cultures more mainstream appeal. Growing up, I even dealt with some identity issues since my culture wasn’t really represented anywhere. It was only as I got older that I learned more about the interesting aspects of my cultural background.
It’s really sad seeing other people of SEA descent feel somewhat ashamed for not being East Asian/SEA. It may not be “trendy” but I think a ton of cultural aspects of Hmong people are fascinating and beautiful. A lot of East Asian cultures have problems lurking beneath the surface that weeaboos and Koreaboos seem to gloss over, so they’re not really that much “better” in many regards. I think it’s important for people to take time to learn more about other cultures without such skewed perceptions.

Word. That's why I don't really visit lolcow anymore and basically have started visiting PULL less often. As funny and/or informative as some of the comments can be on there and here, I've seen a ton that are highly nitpick-y and basically go into pathetic middle-school bullying territory. I just wonder how people who are this hyper-critical of appearance treat their friends or close ones in real life. The issue you're bringing up reminds me of this skit:

  4. thingsome added a post in a topic Mars Argo

Yeah, if you guys haven't already heard, Mars/Brittany is suing Titanic Sinclair for a bunch of reasons. Check it out here. Lots of us are aware of how much of a pretentious douche he is, but this basically confirms that he was emotionally and physically abusive towards towards Mars during and after their relationship. He has done the following:
    • Threatened to commit suicide when she wanted to break-up
    • Cheated on her TWICE
    • Broke into her apartment and destroyed her belongings
    • Punched her in the face
...and a whole lot more. I recommend reading the whole lawsuit since there are way more details of fucked up shit Titanic has done.
Poor Mars. I honestly believe that Titanic can actually hurt her further after submitting that lawsuit. It's fucked up that her ex damaged her well-being to such a huge extent and successfully made a career out of mocking her. I hope she gets the justice she fully deserves.

Even without the filters, I fail to see her "broad fat shoulders" or "huge jaw." This is from someone who doesn't even like Pokimane so don't accuse me of white knighting.

I agree although this could apply to weeaboos when it comes to dating sims rather than just the DDLC fandom. Dating sims or anything like them always attract lonely, inexperienced men who find it easier and more fulfilling to devote their time into an obsession a relationship with cute anime girls. Real relationships with actual women require work and trust that the players can't or won't give, so they become fixated on 2D girls who can't talk back or have standards for them. Quite sad.
Also, an unpopular opinion of mine is that Doki Doki Literature Club! is massively overrated and kinda sucks in a ton of ways. It's kinda like the film The Sixth Sense in that it gained a cult following pretty much for having a sp00pi twist despite a good chunk of it being boring. The characters in the game are one-dimensional and follow tired ol' anime archetypes (like the tsundere, kuudere, yandere, and so on). The portrayals of mental illnesses are romanticized and used to make the game more seem more edgy (which I really had a problem with). The scarier parts of the game just borrow clichés from better-executed horror games. I could go on but I think I've highlighted some of my main issues with the game that make me so puzzled as to why people think it warrants some 9/10.

  7. thingsome added a post in a topic General "Loli" e-girls (Aka uwutubers)

Is anyone familiar with an online personality/artist/animator named Wolfychu? I don't no much about her since I, admittedly, am not really a fan.
    YouTube channel
    DeviantArt page
I only came across her because it seems she has a large following. From the handful of videos I've watched and pieces of art I've seen from her, I feel like she kinda fits into this thread but isn't as blatant about pandering to loli fetishists like Nikki Chi. It makes me feel a bit puzzled. Take this video below:
She regularly speaks in a somewhat high-pitched voice in her other videos like in the beginning of this video. I don't think she's faking it since it seems she can go even higher than that. I want to believe that she's not really pandering towards a specific male audience. She has a boyfriend (SweetoTOONS) whom she openly and often talks about. She also seems to be invested in art and drawing rather than solely her appearance and voice as shown by her channel and other social media accounts. However, there's also her childish-looking character design, mannerisms, interests, combined with some eyebrow-raising thumbnails.
Wolfychu is obviously a furry weeaboo just from her content but I don't know if she's a more covert loli e-girl or just a furry weeaboo. As I said, I'm not too invested in her content but there's something about the way she portrays herself that doesn't sit well with me. Thoughts?

Interesting. IIRC, an older post in this thread mentioned that Ariasaki also does Lily's makeup or has done it before. Lily (partly) relies on being a kawaii animu~uwu girl all of the time, and it's sad that she can't clean up her appearance without relying on her "friend"/fellow e-girl.

  9. thingsome added a post in a topic Losertina / Christina Nguyen

Dang. Christina's parents should really be stricter with her. It's bad enough that their young child is sexualizing herself and getting into petty drama on the Internet. It's even worse that this child can casually insult her caretakers (and disabled people to an extent) like that.

  10. thingsome added a post in a topic Akidearest and The Anime Man

I know. I mean, it's one thing to cosplay for fun/for fans but another to try to do it professionally. If Aki's going for the latter (which she kinda is since she's actually selling these images), she could be putting in more effort to produce higher-quality images.
Agnes seems to want to be taken seriously as this sexy anime babe but doesn't even put a great amount of effort into making herself look stylish. Learning how to improve her eye make-up, investing in clothes that flatter her shape, taking time to edit her photos more, and a bunch of other things can be done to make her look better. It's been some years and she's still rocking a chunky wing and patchy eyebrows.
Again, her look is okay if she's doing it for fun, but since it seems like she's trying to make money off of these, she could do so much more.

Troye Sivan is such an over-hyped artist who isn't that great of a musician. I admire him being open about his gay identity and even challenging themes of sexuality in his music. Still his voice lacks a certain power and uniqueness and the sound of his music is just really boring.  I honestly think he wouldn't have much of a fanbase if it weren't for his image of being a good-looking white twink that appeals to young Tumblr-using girls and gay guys.

Late update, I know, but it was announced a few days ago that Halsey is gonna voice Wonder Woman for the Teen Titans Go! film:
I'm actually kinda curious to hear how this'll turn out.

Off-topic but anyone else find it strange how much lighter Joy's eyebrows are compared to her hair color? I'm no make-up expert so correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that it was best to have your eyebrows be only *slightly* lighter than your hair color if you're a brunette. Maybe it's just the lighting though. I don't know.

  16. thingsome added a post in a topic Unpopular Opinions (K-POP Edition)

I wish dieting weren't so normalized (or even praised) for girl group members. I was watching this one clip taken from a livestream featuring CLC's Sorn:
She sounds sad and un-confident when she excuses such an unhealthy practice with ideal with "...buts it's our job." I also read recently about how Gugudan's Mina, who lost a good amount of weight, talk about how dieting screwed up her immune system to a point where she couldn't get up for weeks. It just kinda felt strange to me on how this is brushed off so casually or that this wasn't blowing up. There are a few more instances I can think of where idols have talked about extreme dieting as if it were okay. It's screwed up that K-pop kinda promotes an unrealistic beauty standard that encourages idols (especially ones in girl groups) to think that being thin makes you more appealing.

  17. thingsome added a post in a topic Melanie Martinez

I think sneeze might be referencing how a lot of Melanie's projects and videos involve her taking on important roles (like director and stylist). Allegedly it's because people find her difficult to work with so she's forced to handle such positions herself.

She's still quite pretty (in my opinion) even though the photo isn't shooped. It's a shame she's so insecure about her looks to the point where she has to Photoshop every selfie.

  19. thingsome added a post in a topic Lily Maymac

Dang. The size of her head in relation to her thin body makes her look kinda odd. Lily is far from ugly but images like this really show us that she's not as model-esque as she would like for us to believe.

  20. thingsome added a post in a topic Instagram is making people crazy?

Man, I used to lurk Instagram and had an account just so I could use the app to looks at other people's photos. I never posted my own stuff. Even so, viewing endless content of girls who were prettier than me, had stylish aesthetics, and traveled to really cool places just brought me feelings of inadequacy and envy.
I stopped using it after realizing how it was quietly and slowly draining my already low self-esteem. My friends who still use it regularly have also told me that they don't even get why they have the app installed onto their phones.
One reason I'm glad I discovered PULL is that it's made me more aware of how distorted the images and lives of many Instagram personalities actually are. The site has taught me to be better at noticing poor Photoshop edits, and I'm now more aware of how shady some big personalities are under all of those filters.

I can definitely see that. Just look at how blatantly rude and passive-aggressive Joey is towards Noble, who was never even in a romantic relationship with him in the first place.
I can't see Joey and Aki lasting that much longer as a couple. If Aki initiated the break-up, I could see Joey making a huge deal about it. His ego is so overly-inflated already and a part of his public identity is closely tied to Aki. I believe that an experience like a break-up might affect him more than the average person, since it would hurt his self-esteem and the image he's established for his public persona.
I doubt that Aki would be the first to call it off since she seems to be more into him than the other way around. Even though I'm not even a fan of either of them, I think she deserves better than to be stuck in a relationship with a twat who doesn't even seem to genuinely enjoy her interests and presence.

  23. thingsome added a post in a topic Unpopular Opinions (K-POP Edition)

r/kpop kinda sucks (now). I used to think that r/kpop was a decent forum for K-pop-related discussions and news and visited the subreddit daily.
These days, the posts and comments posted on there are now virtually indistinguishable from those found on stan Twitter and OneHallyu...which isn't a good thing. The difference between r/kpop and the other two communities is that the former still thinks it's superior to other sites, when it isn't in reality and is oftentimes more aggressively opinionated/biased.

Oh man, I would so watch the video if that's what she's actually gonna address. I doubt it though since she's so hell-bent on maintaining a 'pure Chinese hanfu princess~ uwu' image.
The caption's certainly interesting though. Maybe she'll address pregnancy rumors?
Edit: Never mind. She just uploaded the video and it's just about her wearing lolita casually.

I think TWICE's visuals aren't nearly as great as fans and the public make them out to be. I regularly see articles and posts praising their looks and how perfect they are and I don't get it. I would look at girl groups like LOONA and OG 9Muses (RIP) and think, "Wow, these girls are stunning." I don't get that reactiong looking at TWICE. In my view, the members (with the exception of Tzuyu) are average-looking or slightly above average-looking. I suspect the group just has another case of the cheerleader effect combined with a great marketing team going on.
