to be fair i can see where he's coming from to an extent it's most probably why a lot of hentai or pornography have over-sexualised woman that don't have much backstories (including sexual pasts). they come from companies who want to make a profit from appealing to the lowest common denominator. because they know how to mess with human's minds but this guy is an indie game developer. he doesn't have a bunch of focus groups telling him what to do. or could it be that mahan is the focus group???
surprisingly he's never removed any features in his game in fact recently he "upgraded" an easter egg. i know right? the requirements for his demo are honestly crazy! ideally he should just have osana as the biggest requirement - but some may argue that the bullies and the delinquents are obstacles to the player from killing osana. however, couldn't mahan just make most of osana's routine have her strictly around lots of potential witnesses (normal students)? that way he'd have much less work to do and this also compliments the clubs/study points but it's pretty dang seductive to add in ending credits into a game, as a sort of dopamine boost to fantasize "when the game ends, that's what it'll be like!" because dopamine comes from the anticipation of the moment rather than the moment itself
i do apologize for butting something unrelated into what y'all are posting at the moment (that doesn't mean i won't read them) but i was approached by a potential artist of YS after i made some YS meme/joke on DA
and i just had to get this off my chest (with their permission) it would be interesting to see what you guys think of my response/ their view
hello there, i've come back from the shadows... a bit off topic but another game came into my radar lately and i wanted to bring it up because of how much parallels it has with yansim. it's a fangame of valve's half life series (y'know, where the HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED memes came from) called "Hunt down the Freeman". plus it's being sold for around £19 which is even more than the orange box and the orange box contains 5 GAMES and HDTF is only one game! now about the 'parralels' firstly they steal assets from other half life fan games i.e. black mesa animations, textures and models. sounds like yandere simulator - however hunt down the freeman is worse in this area, because the devs try to defend themselves claiming that the assets they stole are 'free assets'. at least YS claims they're "placeholders" (it still isn't good but better than HDTF) rather than leaving them in the game like HDTF did. secondly they don't respond well to critisism plus they did a crowdfunding campaign... which flopped https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/hunt-down-the-freeman-a-standalone-half-life-game-action#/ like YD. HDTF is also as buggy as heck, had a lot of delays. plus it has pretty cringey voice acting (some of which are from youtube celebrities like IHE, keemstar, pyrocyinical and som eothers)
see the connections? i'm a bit concerned that YS is going to be a game like this when it releases. it probably will with the current pace it's going. at least many people knew HDTF was going to be bad it's quite concerning that YS can get away with being a turd covered in gold while this game [Hunt down the freeman] gets shat on. i see more HDTF haters than fans. but with YS YD has over 1.4 million subscribers. and most of them clearly can't smell the BS that's within YD and the game..
because he probably wants the game to be full of 'living and breathing' people. and by 'living and breathing' i mean a poor excuse to put more sterotypes into the video game. milking the anime tropes like a cash-gifted cow!
i know that YD is trying to go for some sort of duality, but these designs are laughably unrealistic. it looks like he watched too much sailor moon or pretty cure. hey at least it's progress to osana... right? at least it isn't some stupid uganda kuckles easter egg? anybody with me? no? aww....
the only reason easter eggs should be there is for debugging purposes (i.e. getting to a certain place quickly or killing students without having to find a knife). even then, they're quite unnecessary for debug functions. the only thing they do is make compile times slower (that stuff that happens when you change the code)
YD was actually a playtester for most of his job working at kung fu factory the biggest job he got was a rapid prototyper, which even then isn't enough to make a game as complicated as YS the funny thing is that the whole idea of YS not being completed reminds me of the fact that lots of people argue that undertale is a complicated game and that managed to get finished quicker than YS and use that as a way to spite YD. not trying to suck on YD's ego but that's a straw man. undertale uses pixel art, which is quite simple to do and relatively possible for toby fox heck even i use pixel art (even though i can draw decently), it speeds up development YS uses 3d models, which takes up more time to request due to the amount of detail that's needed to make the models look like it belongs in a living and breathing world. undertale is also simpler than lots of people think, it's not some world that's constantly changing around the player; it's a small world that the player discovers, sure they can choose how they interact with it to some extent, but it's not like skyrim/ fallout where the world feels more alive and NPCs function on their own. you cant just kill whoever you want in undertale, you can only specificaly kill enemies - in skyrim/ fallout you can kill anybody you see.
YS on the other hand, needs to have tons of NPCs, each having their own schedules and AI, i'm pretty sure that's not something YD can do, if he made the characters more scripted like UT perhaps it would be more possible to complete, like if ayano had no motive to kill that person just walking (not a rival or anybody, just a normal student) so the player can't kill them. undertale was not a game that needed a big budget, sure toby did compensate a few artists but he did most of the game on his own. the game was something that one guy could make so he would have only needed the money to take care of his own expensives so he can work more on the game. he wasn't earning 50k a month (let alone a year) i'm not using any of this to spite undertale per say (even though i do think it's overrated) i'm more of comparing the differences between YS and undertale's devleopment and why UT was more sucessful and was finished quicker
because they are companies, they want money. when game freak and activision have that money in thier pockets, they're happy. YD should be happy that people support him on patreon at all
here's another shocking twist of audiences at least rareware ADMIT that despite conker's bad fur day (which has a cutesy art style) having themes of violence, sex, drugs, materialism and alcohol and movie references (that work far better in CBFD than YS) that the majority of people played it when they were 10
