sorry on mobile so I can't spoiler this as this is ot anyways I'm a bit confused by this reply? Did you quote the wrong person as my post mentions nothing about caucasian eyelids? Someone else in the other thread used that term and replied saying there was no such thing as caucasian eyelids.
Yikes so she's been flying from toronto to Korea and back whilst being on welfare???? Economy plane tickets are nearly 2k CAD! This is ridiculous. If you can afford MULTIPLE international flights you shouldn't be on welfare imo. I have no sympathy for race faking sexpats but my condolences to the future child, as someone else mentioned, parents like her is why r/hapas is a thing, unfit parents only add to the many issues biracial children deal with, I had great parents and I definitely still struggled with coming to terms with my "eurasian" identity.
From my personal experience of having American family and Korean family and having lived and gone to school in both countries, Korea is a lot worse. My Korean aunties would comment on my physical experience first when I would see them before even asking about how I'd been. It would be "candyvalentine you look as if you've gained a kilo, you should exercise more and go on the apple diet." Or they would talk about girls who would be so pretty if only they dropped 10 kg. Heck I've heard some Korean women fatshaming Beyonce because her "thighs are so fat." It's a really toxic mentality and there's definitely a lot more pressure to be super skinny as it's just everywhere in Korea. So many quack doctors going on tv or having huge kakao story followings preaching about extremely unhealthy fad diets guranteed to make you drop 10 kg in a week. I once went to a popular Korean traditional medicine clinic in Gangnam once to improve my skin (they also did facials and extractions there) and there were poster of Kate Winslet and Leomardo Dicaprio of showing how fat they had gotten since filming titanic to promote some weightloss cleanse. It's definitely worse if you are a Korean girl but I could see how it could affect non-Koreans too. I think for once I pretty much agree with Kendall on something.
Korean laws use international age, and the legal drinking age is 19 international age. People just don't bother with id-ing foreigners unless it's some official event like a music festival where you get wristbands indicating you're 19+ so you can purchase alcoholic beverages. So no Katie isn't the legal drinking age in Korea but no one really cares.
she has gotten art from this artist tattoed on her body before and said she was unable to contact the artist because of a language barrier or something and decided to not contact the artist and just get it tattoed which to me seems a little iffy. Personally I would always want to get permission from the artist before using their art. There was a lot of info about this on lolcow iirc.
I've heard a bunch of white guys complaning about Korean men for taking care of their hair, and dressing up and claiming they're gay because those are "feminine" qualities. Trust me there are a bunch of sexpats in Asia that talk like that. I've unfortunately met some myself.
seriously, Megan's thread is so tame compared to many other influencers as you mentioned and man if they think this is bad they should just be glad Megan doesn't have a lolcow thread.. Honestly most of the "negative" aspects of this thread is critiquing her for very valid reasons, i.e her tiptoeing around colorism, her stealing someone's art to put on an overpriced poorly made tshirt, publicly dating a guy she knew that already had a girl, etc. A lot of us were fans of hers who are simply disappointed by how she uses her platform and her actions she displays publicly. Megan if you're reading this, just own up to your shit, acknowledge that you're privileged as a pretty light skinned woman, stop trying to rip off your fans with your "originally designed" clothes. Maybe try showing your fans more of Korea, outside of your nice flat, maybe vlog a fish market outside of Seoul, or go back to making videos on cool places to visit that aren't kitschy cafes in hongdae or myeondong. I know you're more than capable to do so.
She's delusional. Pale skin and black hair doesn't make you resemble someone. She constantly pushes the notion that she resembles Nancy and I wonder if she's had her vision checked recently because she looks completely different. The only commonalities I can see is dark hair and pale skin but according to the sub her hair isn't even dark naturally... plus doesn't Nancy have green hair now? Which would make her resemble Nancy even less.
