We've heard you loud and clear - negative reputation is back. Remember that it's still against the rules to complain about being downvoted - if you think someone's mass-downvoting posts or otherwise abusing the reputation system, DM a mod and we will take care of it.
as a black american woman, reading some of the race-related “unpopular opinions” is a mess. there are problems with the way some vocal members of the community choose to go about and fix the issues that plague us but don’t try to diminish and shut them up because race conversations bother you. especially if you aren’t american (since these are america centric issues in the first place). sorry that still in this present year the darker our skin may be, the coarseness of our hair and shapes of our (namely female) body is still a target for tasteless jokes, deemed unattractive and over sexualized. that the instagram baddie and twitter lingo are appropriated from the way we look and sometimes speak. that a black person being black is “unprofessional” yet someone from a different race doesn’t get the same treatment. is it tiring discussing all of this? of course but it won’t stop until our voices are heard and the issues we have are actually listened to instead of dismissed because of “everyone else is doing it”. no duh, just give a little credit when due is all. oh god and the whole hair debate is wack. i’m not one to say that box braids hold a deeper meaning to me but to act as if having long straight hair is appropriating is questionable and ignorant at most. plenty of non-white POC have long straight hair so find a different issue to complain about. im going back to lurking kthxbye
this is the screenshot of the tweet in mentioned. it was a self reply to a photo of Cameron Boyce who played Luke in Jessie and this is hinted to be debby ryan’s response to james. which is gross because this tweet was in 2016 which meant cameron was 16 and 16 year old james thought this was funny to even air out. yuck!
if she is bi, then why not just come out and say so? all this hinting at it and liking tweets about it doesn’t prove she is. it’s not like she’ll get backlash either but keeping it unconfirmed seems super baity.
it’s even more insulting given toulouse and myron are ariana’s dogs. way to treat a “friend” who wrote songs for you for years and was important enough for a ring. she may still be in a dark place emotionally and mentally but that doesn’t excuse how rude and nasty she’s been.
apparently one of her friends who received a ring claimed she wasn’t given writing credits on 4 songs in thank u, next and ariana & co responded with some petty tweets as a response. its so gross how her stans applaud this kind of behavior.
if you don’t find anything wrong then that’s fine. if other people find it wrong that’s fine too. what’s considered problematic amongst people varies from person to person. no one is saying you HAVE to be mad but for those who are just respect their stance y’know?
i find it sounds how i expected it to in terms of lyrics. i wonder what kind of thinkpieces are going to come out of the final shot in which she goes to kiss the girlfriend. but is the girlfriend dressing and emulating ariana’s looks or vice versa? overall a nice song with better enunciation (imo) and way to many yuhs like wtf.
i just checked the belle delphine thread and some users whom comment there need to stay away. i get being upset at how easy it is for others to get money but idk. i think thats a whole ‘nother level of low self-esteem. i can sympathize but also why does it bother you so much? this seems to be prevalent in any topic about an e-thot. personally, i cant find myself being super upset at how easy it is for someone to get their money. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
went through the last 3 pages of the thread and it definitely reeks of a superiority complex. just because you decide to not go the e-thot route doesn’t make y’all better than one who does. again, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
it’s her excessive tanning in conjunction with her use of AAVE that are bothering people. she also appears on TIME and VOGUE magazine with her natural shade so, clearly she has no problem with being able to wipe off the tan when she feels like it.
