    • Be a moderator! & Reports Announcement   03/07/19

We're aware that PULL needs more moderation and attention, so we're actively looking to expand our mod crew! If you're a regular user and intend to stay this way, then rest assured that we're working on improving PULL for you. In order to do this, we rely on user reports, so I'd like to take this opportunity to ask everyone to report posts you think break a rule, disrupt discussion or shouldn't be allowed.  There is absolutely no concern over getting too many reports - we get a handful of reports per week. More reports would be great because it helps us figure out how our users want the forum to be - leaving criticism in threads doesn't make it easy for mods to find your opinions. Furthermore, don't worry about being a "snitch" or too harsh - a report doesn't mean action will be taken, that's up to the mods. A report really only tells us to look at the comment and to gauge the community atmosphere. Often times, peer pressure or established community atmosphere will dictate the direction a thread takes, and criticizing certain posts can be uncomfortable or downright futile when the majority disagrees with your view. This leads to groupthink and degradation of thread quality because the loudest/most active users get their way. So reporting is a way to quickly and anonymously (to other users) give feedback to the moderators. If we don't get this feedback, we think everyone's happy and there's no need for change. So use this feature as much as you'd like to help shape PULL into a more constructive community again. If you'd like to be a moderator: Click here for the application form.

You're right, I went back and looked again and unhid both your and honeycrisp's comment. It was right at the tail end of the Mikan discussion and I thought I was just cleaning up, but you're right in that it's not consistent if other similar comments aren't being hidden as well.
So to clarify, yes, please instead of posting in the thread (especially comments that are styled with large font, bold text, capslock etc that take up half the page) just report the offending posts. I know we're still not very speedy right now, but more mods will be added and contributing to the derailing by arguing about what goes where is not very helpful either.
And for everyone else, if a post is not informative (as in updates, context, clarifications, etc) then think about putting it into the nitpick thread.
What definitely belongs in the nitpick thread are purely superficial comments and opinions like "This is an ugly outfit", "I hate her eyebrows", "she would look so much better if..."
I know it can be hard to decide what goes where because there's not really a very distinctive line between commentary and nitpicking, so we're not moderating very strictly, and the occasional comment won't be punished at all - it becomes a problem when it derails the entire thread and makes it hard to follow the actual drama around Kenna because it gets drowned in commentary.
I'm going to remind Nyx that we should work out a concise structure for this forum so that every kind of comment has its place and users can post to their hearts' content while keeping things organized. Please stay tuned.

I hid a chain of comments that were focused mostly on comparing Mikan to Kenna, which is why they don't belong in this thread. The comments you're asking about were hidden because they were part of this off-topic conversation, not because they told users where to go.

That's weird. Maybe then the site was paid for by one of her friends or relatives and they're keeping it going as a memorial or just because they didn't realize it was still being charged - it would be maybe 10 dollars per year at most.

Wow, damn. She's still the same after so many years, still not moving on from her weeby fantasies, just dialed them up to 11 after moving back... is it desperation because she's aging out of that bracket where it's generally accepted to be like this and it's like a "Now or never" kind of thing?

Just to clear this up: Before we made the announcement about using reports more, we got maybe 5 reports a week. Compare that the the amount of constant infighting, arguments, disagreements, off-topic posting, etc. and you'll see that it's not nearly enough to help us stay up to date on current issues unless we read every single post in the forum. We need the reports as a way for users to reach us quickly and effectively rather than battling things out in the thread. However, as I said before, it's still up to us to make the actual decision.

Interestingly though, someone renewed her Plaaastic.com blog in February:

I edited @Bambicake's comment to add the spoiler, in the future please remember that this is necessary for all NSFW content.

Just wanted to say that we've been banning accounts who participate in brigading threads via mass downvoting! The ones listed above are gone now. Reporting will solve incidents like these quickly.

Everyone knows what they're getting into with online sex work, the risks are well-known and obvious, not to mention she was surrounded by other sex workers and was clearly informed enough. They do it because they think it's easy money for no effort, like she admitted herself (hated working at McD, thought she could "make money just by being mean", then "realized it actually took effort", wow, who would have thought?). They end up paying for it with their privacy. If it's nothing to be shamed for, then it's nothing we have to censor. At least it'll serve as a warning for others to be more careful if they don't want to be found out.
It was brought up because she has a reputation as a "self-made" girl who worked hard to make it and finding out that she was in fact doing sex work for a while is relevant to the way she has crafted her image. On this note I want to say that just because she says it didn't go anywhere, doesn't have to mean it's the truth. It's absolutely fair to have a conversation about this. She's an adult and knew what she was literally signing up for.
Don't misunderstand this as me "shaming" her for it - I'm not, but this is a forum about transparency regarding online influencers, and if we start hiding this kind of thing, we might as well shut down completely.

This is not a thread about the ethics of sex work, please move on. We're only talking about the specific case of Mikan's sex work, not the general politics around it.

Stop reporting posts with screenshots from her profile or old information, we're not going to erase her online footprint for her. This is still a gossip board and won't be censored because she regrets a decision she made as an adult. Her name has already been removed, anything else is her own responsibility.

I checked too, the expiration date is still set to March 14th 2019, but some registrars (and I assume GoDaddy is one of them because it's very beginner-friendly) give you a grace period to avoid domain sniping. (This is what happens when you go on a website and suddenly it's full of sketchy ad links, it means that someone else bought the domain and will re-sell it for a higher price or just use the traffic coming from people looking for the old site for ad placement)

This Whataboutism isn't solving anything either, but just in case you missed it, Filthy Frank and idubbz were heavily criticized for their actions. Of course someone with a bigger following will get more backlash, the actions of someone with 1 million followers won't have as large an impact as those of someone with 10 million followers, it's proportional, that's just logical? Not sure what you're even trying to say with that.

How many times do I have to repeat that I already said from the start that he is NOT responsible? That's the exact phrasing I used.
No use going into the rest because I've already said my part.
Political stances don't exist as long as no votes are cast? That's a new one.

    1. I acknowledged that he says "oh this is bad, don't do this", but it's the absolute bare minimum and he should be wondering why he has to keep pointing out to people that it's bad to deface memorials in his name, but this is the same guy who thought it would be funny to commission a "death to all jews" joke, so it's not surprising he has fans like that. This again
    2. I specifically said that I do not think he's responsible. But, as said above, he should be reconsidering his behavior because it's clear that his fans enjoy this certain style of humor and feel validated when Felix acts it out with them and only changes his tune when he has a big callout on his hands.
That's what I mean. It's quite telling that he has to tell his viewers not to do this kind of stuff, and that it got this far in the first place. Again, this has a lot to do with the kind of humor he promotes, because you don't see fans doing this with many other e-celebs. It's alarming that he even has to talk to his audience about it and it's definitely not par for the course.
