I am not a white knight, but I guess she just finds that look to be more beautiful, I think everybody find attractive things which they don't have. Like girl with curly hair want straigh hair, girl with straight hair want curly hair, different eye-colors, height, weight, body types, fashion etc.
Being fair, does anybody know what kind of camera lense sizes are used in the film industry? Since we know, she uses completely different size to make her face look slimmer and its said, that tv cameras add some "weight".
I am too for an asian cast (I would love real Japanese people from Japan), don't get me wrong, buuuuut... The root of the whole problem is in the person/company in Japan, who owns all the rights too it. You know, there are laws, which protects all kind of book stories, mangas, comics etc. There are two ways to make a movie: a) take the movie and make a suitable cast (being asian people only) = less money for the creator b) pay lots of money to be able change the cast (= cast whoever they want), alter the story - which happened to GITS
and then its also the point about Hollywood making movie for its own country and the majority race audience, which happens to be "white" and to make a lot of money from the movie in cinemas. They don't care about the rest of the world (they know it will make some money from it in the world, because its from "Hollywood"), but in same time just care about their own country to owning a movie which will sell on the US market. (I watched few documentaries about it, even about the asian actors who talk about the issue being left out.) I am upset too about the cast, but also have to take a step back and look at it from a "sober" perspective.
(I was for Rinko Kikuchi playing Motoko Kusanagi, for example)
