Her Japan vlog is so boring it's just 25minutes of foodshots and random snippets of her friends talking?? It's one thing to have vlogs like that at your dorms but I'd expect them to do a bit more things when traveling at least...
In Liliths recent watercolour video she showed how she used watercolors, inks and salt together to make experimental pieces and now it's featured in Jasmine's new video about her finals. It's a super basic technique but due to her track record and also her,,,choosing almost the exact same colors and brands of items I can't help but think it's suspect again.
Sorry for the double post but also why on earth is she taking her paintings home one at a time, thus having to do multiple plane rides. Can't she just leave them at her dorm or mail them there or pay for a bigger luggage situation once and take them all I'm so confused about the logic here?
Honestly this combined with her 'girlfriend' video title and rudely explaining what queer baiting was to actual lgbt viewers combined I can see why people were so mad. Yeesh it's fine to experiment but don't post it and then get mad people get the wrong idea. Honestly I'm kinda glad she's going for being a tattoo artist, it actually fits her being technically skilled but lacking the concepts to explain her 'made for aesthetic' artwork. I don't really like her but I'm happy for her regardless I guess.
OH hey y'all I'm so glad to finally find a thread for Jasmine so I can stop,,,annoying the people in the catcreature thread about her lmao. She's been a bit sus to me for quite a while ever since she mentioned living "quite cheap/middle class" and then a week later said she spends about 300dollars a week on non school related stuff. I'm not American but even for the USA that sounded wildly excessive especially for someone claiming to only have 1 working parent.
Her art has also always been quite odd? It's always amazed me how little she can explain why she makes pieces while it's clear she's trying to come off as very deep and inspired. It's cool to just work illustrative but even then she seems to have 0 grasp on the concepts she's trying to portray. Now that she seems to be copying Lilith and I looked back and realised how similar her art was to Anabelle's before this, her just copying and stealing actually explains a lot. It's too bad because she has a lovely grasp on varying techniques. Something I haven't seen mentioned here yet is that she had some drama a few months back for a videotitle "going to LA with my girlfriend" which dissapointed/ made a few lgbt watchers of her channel quite uncomfortable. I didn't personally see it as a problem but I remember her commenting back quite rudely and then just deleting all the bad comments which isn't very mature imo.
Is it just me or does CupofJasmien's current artstyle look,,a bit similar to Lilliths? I assume it's because both are currently inspired by Asian artists but the timing seems really weird especially because Jasmins art seemed quite different just a few months ago...
EDIT: forgot to mention it but Jasmin also specifically mentioned having a sudden love for fairytales and doing zodiac related work even though she doesn't seem very into that which is part of why this seems suspicious to me.
Yeah I agree, though I used to really like all of those vloggers' artwork. Their portfolio videos were great and what drew me in to the channels in the first place but once they start in RISD/Pratt/Parsons they always seems to get worse? Idk if it's the deadlines but it's a bit concerning how fast their work declines in quality after going to classes to,,get better. In some of Tiffany Wengs comments on her portfolio video there are people pointing out she plagiarised another artist though so maybe that explains it for her...
I remember her saying "I live a very middle class life" followed up with "I spend 300dollars a week" in the same q&a video and it still baffles me. I know European colleges are probably different but I never spend more then 300 A MONTH so this fully made me change my mind about her content for a long while... I do like her vlogs, probably more so then most of these kinda artschool vloggers but whenever a fan points out her doing something kinda sus (like her title-ing a video with girlfriend when,,,,she's straight or the money stuff) she never seems take it well.
Back to Catcreature she seems to have bought another cat,,,, Honestly buying a pretty high maintanance pet with your recent boyfriend while still in college sounds like such a setup for failure I kinda fear for the pets.
Honestly Jasmine is imo worse then Anabelle regarding the things she's critisised for like when it comes to the starving artist behavior when they're both fairly loaded, I'm kinda surprised she doesn't have a thread yet. She's definetely at least inspired by her but I do think her actual content is a bit less pretentious looking.
Whenever I see those "are your favorite fashion influencers actually fashionable or just skinny and generally attractive"posts I have to think of Ashley. Like she's stylish but I really can't say any,,,,special thing about her next to the fact that she looks very "pretty girl next door"ish.
I mean while I think she's quite hypocritical and annoying when it comes to expressing her views (very rich liberal-ish) I don't think it's a bad thing that she does give her genuine opinion about these things on her channel. I liked her last video but I'm not very familiar with the American economical system so I just thought it was interesting.
I've always defended girls who want to wear band shirts because who knows what someone might listen to but her saying she "always wanted a band tee" made me roll my eyes so hard... Like at least pretend you wanted a guns and roses shirt specifically or smth
"Shatters the illusion of femininity" reminds me of a recent video where she called her outfit "very masculine" because she wore a blazer over a dress... She seems stuck in oddly stereotypical behaviour and thinking for someone who claims to be so forward thinking.
Normally I don't care for pretentious "book good phone bad" type content but her latest video made me so,,,so sad for her? Her friends, if she has them really didn't care that she was basically unresponsive for a week? I can't help but feel like David doesn't seem to care much for her mental health either but that might just be me, it also just seemed kinda worrying that she apparently just ignores texts from irl friends/David even though she's always online,,, She seems genuinely lonely and addicted to online validation, I assume her bad mental health has to do with it but even then I worry for her now.
I really like Ashley's content and personality but I can't say i'm surprised about her not actually being sustainable. In general she seems to be the kind of person who only cares for "woke" statements when it benefits her personally. I remember that when I first subbed to her she was always talking about how taboo sex was and how she doesn't get treated right as an Asian girl but in her Q&A video when she had to give an unpopular opinion she immediately jumped onto the "this generation is too offended", normally that wouldn't bother me it's kinda the popular unpopular opinion that most youtubers give when asked that kind off a question but considering her past statements it did come off as a bit?? distasteful I guess? Hypocritical mostly and it did bother me for a while...
